I had three packages - shipped Priority - spend eight days in Indianapolis. They finally did deliver after 10 - 12 days in transit.

A time sensitive purchase i made j⁰ust just landed in Indianapolis today. I'm not happy.

Just picked up my taxes today and I owe the IRS money. I wonder if my payment gets hung up in the Indianapolis hub if they will charge me late fees?
On the subject of going there and picking up mail that is a no - no. There were people on the news waiting on a passport and offered to drive there and pick it up. The USPS told them that was against policy, and they wouldn't allow it. I suppose they are still waiting.

I finally broke down and bought a knife that was pricey and thought about for some time
Well when I saw it started out in Indianapolis I thought oh crap well maybe I’ll get lucky and those mutants will do their job this week
Well it’s been stuck there for 3 days so far

Indianapolis seems the worst and weather advisory banners have been a mainstay on tracking searches for weeks from here .

I bought a knife in Illinois Monday night and it's out for delivery today , USPS ground advantage , that's fast !

I had an item that was ordered on February 24 from a company in Wisconsin. Shipped USPS Ground Advantage. USPS tracking says it arrived at the Madison WI distribution center February 25. It sat there until March 5th. Arrived at Coppell TX distribution center March 7. Departed to the next facility March 10, arrived at Coppell TX distribution center (again!) March 11. Arrived at local post office March 11, delivered in/at mailbox March 11. 13 days.

When I purchased the item the seller web site said UPS Ground Advantage was recommended, 3 to 5 days.

The package Kaleb sent me from near Cincinnati is still in Indianapolis and has been since January 25th. Postal service standard line is we expect to be caught up by this weekend or the first part of next week.

I sent a package on the 3rd(supposed to arrive up north on the 6th)and on the 9th tried to open a trace on it from USPS because it just showed in transit. The next morning it arrived in Coppell sorting center which is 35 miles from where it started(and odd because it usually goes to Ft. Worth). No it says in transit again but it never said departed Coppell. 10 days and I’m afraid it hasn’t even left North Texas yet.

The USPS received it in Hillsboro, MO and it made it toto St. Louis, Mo on 3/20. It arrived at Indianapolis, IN on 3/21 and arrived in Roanoke, VA on 3/23. It was delivered to me in Danville, VA on 3/24. I don't think it could've been much quicker.

We have been sending USPS medium flat rate boxes from Chicago land to Montgomery Al 3 or 4 days.
IMHO normal or good delivery.

I agree,I have a package that's been in Indy for 10 days.Package was shipped on March 2.

Proving once again that miracles still happen. The package that Kaleb sent me from near Cincinnati in January arrived today. I may have to check on this, but pretty sure the Pony Express had faster delivery times. I wonder also if this means they have reached the bottom of the pile? Let's hope so. Kind of ironic that I also got a letter in the mail today from the post office asking me to participate in a customer satisfaction survey. Are they really sure they want my comments?

Arrived Davis OK 6:28 am, only 19 minutes
Arrived Sulphur OK 6:51am March 26, only 23 minutes
No updates since then.
It's supposed to be coming to Terre Haute IN.
The last 3 towns are very small, probably just have very small post offices, surely not a distribution center.

I worked in downtown Washington, DC, for almost 30 years. I kept a post office box at the Ben Franklin Station post office on Pennsylvania Ave. so I could pick up packages and signature-required mail on my lunch hour. Once, I bought an antique photograph from an online Arlington, Virginia, dealer. The dealer visited DC the next day to do research at the National Archives, so he stopped at the same Ben Franklin Station post office and mailed the photo (a #10 letter-sized envelope) there. It took 28 days for the photo to travel the 35 or so feet from the business counter to my p.o. box.

I sent a knife priority mail a couple weeks ago from E. Tennessee to Florida. It went to Greensboro,SC first and 3 days later was in Seattle, WA. It did eventually make it to Fla. just took a while.

1. An app generated mailing label with both QR codes and barcodes with nine digit zip codes. There’s so much high-speed automation in play today so having a machine readable mailing label is essential to avoid manual intervention.

2. Signup for Informed Delivery and endure your outbound and inbound parcels are added to the list. Sometimes the parcels get automatically added based on the return or shipping address but it’s best to double check.

3. On the parcel tracking status page, signup for text or email messages and each time a parcel is scanned you’ll get a notification. It’s especially nice on delivery day because the moment it hits your mailbox, you get notified.

Give it a try, it might improve your relationship with USPS & its action you can take for free. Report back on your experiences with my suggestions. Peace

I have done all but number 1 but that’s only because I haven’t shipped anything lately.

My wife gets a lot more packages than I do and it does seem to have improved the speed and accuracy of our deliveries.

I like that I get a delivery text while the mailman is still on my porch. For one, it’s just cool but it also might help if a package gets mis-delivered. If it’s not on my porch, the mailman will still be on my block and I can chase him down and ask him which house he delivered it to. In theory, that is.

For as long as I can remember once a package hit St Louis it'd be in my mailbox the next day, barring bad weather. For the past couple of years packages arriving in St Louis travel through two different facilities, sometimes bouncing back and forth between them several times. Occasionally the package will go to a nearby town instead of here. When that happens it gets returned to St Louis to repeat the whole process.

I'm rarely in any kind of hurry for something to come, but speaking as a consumer and taxpayer the monumental inefficiency drives me crazy.

So a knife I bought on ebay to be delivered to New Mexico that went from Concord NC, to Charlotte to Indianapolis, (huge problem), then 3 days later scanned in Seattle, then 3 days later returned to Charlotte. Shipped on the 9th. Now who knows if/when I will get it. USPS really suuuucks.
