Syracuse NY Brass handles Scout Knife 1935-1940

I would like to show:.. a two bladed- Brass handles Scout Knife three inches closed...This knife has Scout Knife stamped on one handle
The blade is also stamped.. Syracuse.. Knife.. Company.. Syracuse NY...This is in four lines...like Camilus used
I looked in Goins book and found this is a trademark Camilus used between 1935-1940 quite unusual
I don't know anything about the knife and would like see if anyone has one or knows if other compaines made them

most “official” scout knives that were made for the Boy Scouts of America did not say Boy Scout on the handles, shield or etch but that’s not a 100% of the cases. This knife in particular is not an official issued Boy Scout knife.

The only one I have is this Clover Brand, which I think was a Camillus brand also. Mine had outgassing celluloid handles, which I replaced with walnut. It is 3 inches closed length, is tip bolstered, and is tang stamped Clover Brand Syracuse USA.

In addition to what Tom said, most “official” items licensed by the Boy Scouts of America will be marked with the Boy Scouts emblem either as the shield and/or etched or stamped on the master blade. Here’s a thread with hundreds of pictures of “scout” knives, both official and unofficial. https://www.allaboutpocketknives.com/kn ... hp?t=12874 Somewhere in the posts there is included an explanation about unofficial and official knives, the BSA attempts to protect their name and slogans, etc.

As usual when it comes to money and greed, with so many trying to capitalize on use of the name without paying any royalties, attempts to protect their organization’s property and copyrights became too expensive. The BSA eventually gave up trying on all but the most basic name and images. Basically it’s the same story as Kleenex, Coke, and other iconic trademark names that have become generic language.
