Don't know if this is something your client would be interested in...it's 7/8 inches long and sterling silver. Could probably grind the attachment and back down...some might be a little above the surrounding handle material? At $40, don't know if that's something ya'll would be interested in ::shrug::
Just throwing a thought out there.

Give Great Eastern a call. They may have one laying around. It's worth a phone call to find out.

There's some Chinese knives on eBay with the brand name of "Nashville" that have guitar shields. I guess it depends on how bad your customer wants that guitar shield.

Thanks guys common good suggestions. I sent my customer to email last night wanting to know what type of guitar. See great minds do work alike. I am disappointed to see that one of you didn't mentioned a Flying V guitar. That is Iconic and I think it would make a cool shield as long it goes with his type of music.

I may have to put my Fordham to use and make one. ::hmm::

W. R. Case & Sons also had a line - or maybe two - of knives with a guitar shield. One commemorated Elvis Presley, and I believe one also commemorated Johnny Cash. As those knives are often available on eBay, you might be able to find a donor knife with a guitar shield.

Thanks for the link...I think. As a knife collecting guitar player, who recently built a guitar at The Wayne Henderson School of Appalachian Arts, I didn't recall ever seeing a knife with a guitar shield. That collection "vacancy" will soon be filled. I was able to locate a smooth bone version a little cheaper than the knife you linked.

If anyone else is interested, search: German Creek Knives "The Nashville". It seems the congress is the only one they make with the guitar shield, but they do make it in several variations.

Yea, and I recently posted, in the "Moose" thread, that I didn't own a moose and thought that would be my next addition. Oh well, too many knives and not enough dollars. Moose will just have to wait. ::dang::

No worries ::handshake:: . I was kinda laughing at myself over getting sidetracked to a different knife so quickly. I had searched the moose pattern and was trying to decide between 2 or 3 I liked. And I am not a big fan of the congress pattern, but the guitar shield made it irresistible. I'm beginning to think my wife is right when she refers to my collecting knives as an obsession/addiction. Bill - GEC offers a guitar shield https://greateasterncutlery.net/blog/gec-shields/ but I don’t know when (or if) it’s ever been used.

There is a Case knife for sale on eBay with a banjo shield if that floats your boat: https://www.ebay.com/itm/135537448134?m ... media=COPY

And finally, this little beauty thats even more economical than your German Creek knife:

Can you use an earring as a shield? Lots of guitar earrings listed on ebay.

Chris Crawford can make you the pattern (if you have a pantograph). If not he can make the actual shield for you.

I have this guitar pin that I no longer want. I'm sure that one of you talented cutlers could transform it into an interesting shield. It measures approximately 1 1/2" long and 1/2" at the widest part. NICER than the pics. If interested, PM me.

I've tried buying replacement shields from them to replace damaged/lost ones in customers knives in the past and they refused to sell me any which was a first. Usually knife companies will send them to you for free. ::shrug::
