This 112½ Medium Toothpick showed up in my mailbox yesterday courtesy of knifeaddict1965. I think about a third of my ACSB collection was either sold or gifted to me by other AAPK members, Kevin being my principle benefactor. Although I generally tend to try and avoid attaching too much emotional significance to my knives, I can't help but feel differently about the knives that were given to me by a friend compared to the knives I purchased...the gifted knives are somehow more meaningful. Funny how that works.

I try not to attach emotional significance to knives and stuff too, but sometimes the things from others do it for me. Like a knife gift from the niece or daughter, or something for the Sportster. Then I can't avoid it. Knives from AAPK members do that to me as well. Congrats on a goodie.

The ACSB Express has slowed considerably as of late...getting pretty heavy and hard to maintain a full head of steam with the steady accumulation of so many permanent passengers. Always room for one more, though, especially a well-dressed little fellow like this 3¼" Stockman.

Been looking for new patterns to add to my ACSB collection; so far the only Barlow pattern I’ve been able to find with ACSB handle is this Remington “Veteran” Razor Barlow. (Made in USA by Buck, I believe.)

I've owned modern Remington branded knives in the past and I must admit I wasn't all that impressed with them, so I was somewhat hesitant to pull the trigger on this razor Barlow. But, I really wanted a Barlow pattern in my ACSB colletion and this is the only one I could find so I bit the bullet and took a leap of faith. I'm glad I did because, turns out, it's actually a pretty decent, well made, solid little knife; I was pleasantly surprised. Google tells me that Buck is the manufacturer of the modern, made in USA Remington folders. Regardless of who made it, however, I wonder why there aren't more patterns being made with this ACSB? It's a bit on the dark side as far as color goes, but the jigging is surperb IMO.

I was happy to discover this pattern with genuine ACSB because Remington also makes a Baby Bullet (Mini Trapper) pattern with ACSD (Amber Carved Stag Delrin) scales which is fairly ubiquitous and inexpensive. I had one for a short time but I sold it because as good a facsimile as it may be to ACSB, in the end, Delrin ain't bone and it's just not the same IMO. This is also my only knife with a one arm razor style blade...a type that never really appealed to me. Now that I have one, I will confess it's growing on me and I'm liking it more and more. Funky looking blade but it sure is easy to open!

I do too, although I must admit that as much as I love ACSB (and you know I love it a LOT!!), there's something about genuine stag that always makes my heart beat just a little bit faster

Thanks, Tony. I have always loved the Northwoods arrowhead shield...in fact, it was the shield that first caught my eye and drew me into buying Northwoods and Scagels in the first place.

It's definitely a contender for the center spot; although, as you well know from your own experience, individual ACSBs tend to camoflauge themselves well when travelling in large herds. I might have to keep this one separate for a while so as to allow maximum, distraction-free chicken-eyeing

Mahalo, Ivoryman. I have you to thank for turning me onto Northwoods knives way back in the day. Little did we realize then how popular they would eventually become to the point that a relatively standard, run-of-the-mill release like the IRJ would one day become such a rare and sought after collector piece. Still pinching myself to make sure this isn't just a dream.
