Victorian Rodgers Knife help to identify

Post by Lewis348 »

hi,
I bought this Rodgers knife and can only find one other like it but he identified his as a medical knife.[photo 1]
I think it is a skinning knife. Blade plus tweezer/pliers to remove the skin.[my knife last three photos]
Does anyone know anything else about it ? and can Confirm what it is .His value seems high to me but any direction on its value would be appreciated

It's a castration knife.

Price seems steep.

Seems awful shiny for a 100+ year old knife.
Couldn't be stainless, looks chrome-plated, which is also unlikely, I think.
And the handle material looks modern ....
::shrug::
I'm in no way dissing the knife, just trying to learn something.
Hoping MB will provide more details

i woke last night to the sound of thunder
how far off i sat and wondered
started humming a song from nineteen sixty two
aint it funny how the night moves
