Loose scale

Got a nice little Robeson jack but the handle is pulled away from the liner at one end. Tried JB Weld, no go. Tried a name brand super glue - success! seemed to hold the handle down, then a day later, bing - popped up again. What can I do to fix this? Not interested in any disassembly.

Based on a random sampling of tallguy606 prior post’s, he doesn’t do pictures. Not sure what the handle covers are made of, nor how badly warped they might be. I assume since it’s a Robeson, the covers were pinned? Without pictures it’s hard to tell what’s going on. “Not interested in any disassembly” limits options.

Sorry, not able to do a picture. Handles are jigged pinkish material, delrin or maybe bone? You can pry up the end of the problem area about the thickness of a pocketknife blade. Before prying, there is a gap between handle and liner of maybe the thickness of a matchbook cover. Pin on the end is no longer fixed to the liner hole. But the center pin is strong and has not moved and the rest of the handle on that side is tight to the liners. Thanks for any ideas

Sounds to me like the cover needs to be re-pinned. Probably should be posted in the knife repair forum, but the first thing they will want is pictures. https://www.allaboutpocketknives.com/kn ... m.php?f=37

Could thorough cleaning of mating materials with rubbing alcohol,
drying, try again Jb weld, and clamping of the shield
be the answer?

I have removed a lot of knife handles and typically there is a lot of dirt,, oil, and crud that accumulates beneath them. No glue is going to stick to that.
You might clean underneath the scales with brake cleaner or contact cleaner, then alcohol, then try gluing and clamping to see if it will hold. It may, or may not.
I personally believe that your best bet is to send it to a knife mechanic who will remove the scaless, clean, glue, and re-pin them. Or replace them with new scales, if those are warped.
