Thank you Mark!Sharpnshinyknives wrote: ↑Thu Jan 09, 2025 11:52 am Simply beautiful Tony. What a great design and look on that knife. The yellow with the red liners really stands out. Nice pick up.
I think Master Tak Fukuta is the one that made these and not Master Imai. Just from what I am finding online. You might check your sources and see for sure.Corn Creek Cutlery wrote: ↑Thu Jan 09, 2025 1:38 pmThank you Mark!Sharpnshinyknives wrote: ↑Thu Jan 09, 2025 11:52 am Simply beautiful Tony. It is used, but not abused. Comparing the knife to the sheath, I think it was carried more than actually used.
It does look like a Tak Fukuta made knife.Sharpnshinyknives wrote: ↑Thu Jan 09, 2025 9:22 pmI think Master Tak Fukuta is the one that made these and not Master Imai. Mark, I posted this in the "mail" thread ... Q asked the same question.Madmarco wrote: ↑Mon Jan 20, 2025 10:30 pm Two very nice models, Tony, and I have questions!
1.- What is the little piece sticking out from the top-end of your Majestic that appears reflected, or, black and white in color? It looks like it's making contact with the log it's sitting on, and it's sticking out from the top bolster.![]()
2.- Is there a blade release button anywhere on the bolster on your Valor? I've seen them like that and I'm just curious if they're all the same.![]()

Thanks Mark! I really like Valor knives. I have bought a couple Fury Japan examples, but was not as impressed. They don't seem to be of the same quality.Sharpnshinyknives wrote: ↑Mon Jan 20, 2025 5:17 pm Great looking knives Tony. You have great photography skills. Valor knives have always impressed me with their quality. Anything Aristocrat has been well made too. Congrats on both.
Thanks, Tony, I read the other thread and commented, and the Valor having a button-release I saw on ebay. It will only release the locked blade if you push the button that's integrated into the top-front bolster. Your knife is not that model.Corn Creek Cutlery wrote: ↑Mon Jan 20, 2025 11:34 pmMark, I posted this in the "mail" thread ... This is a double locking knife. The blade locks when opening, then the metal piece/lever can be moved forward into the slot in the spine for an additional blade lock. It fits perfect and tight. To close the blade, you pivot the piece back and down to unlock the blade. It's unique!
As I recall, Mark had one of these or it was in the sold out part of his AAPK store last year explaining this also.
The Valor is a lock back slipjoint. I did not take a picture of the back side of this knife, but it has a Flintlock rifle molded into that scale.
Thanks QS, I have only a couple CS Japan made. I call them and Al Mars second mortgage knives, and only pick one up when I can get a good deal. Interesting how the spine on your Emperor is shaped that way. The uniqueness of different knives is one of the reasons I am into this hobby. One of those Sunshine polishing cloths I use may bring that brass back. I have seen the cloth work miracles on brass. PM your address, and I will send you a couple.Quick Steel wrote: ↑Thu Jan 30, 2025 3:48 pm CCC, Back in the mid 80s, Cold Steel put out their superb Emperor Collection. Also, Japanese made. Your brass fittings are highly polished. Mine no longer are. The spine of the CS blades are not flat but come to a peak, sort of like the top of a minuscule pyramid. The edge of the three steel blade taught me how incredibly sharp a knife could be. Over the decades, I have seldom encountered edges that were as sharp and those were on customs.
Congratulations on your beautiful pattern.

Thank you Mark ... It was a long hunt, and I had to pay a little bit for the dagger, but it is in the condition I was looking for.Sharpnshinyknives wrote: ↑Thu Jan 30, 2025 7:38 pm Really nice Tony and Garry. Those are all knives I’ve had my eye on for a long time, especially the dagger. Like you Tony, I am waiting on a good deal before buying one.
Cold Steel has such a reputation when it comes to blades and the sharpness of the edges. They make great knives.
I always think of the damage this knife could do, and I have no idea why since it's such a beautiful piece.Corn Creek Cutlery wrote: ↑Thu Jan 30, 2025 12:07 pm My Japan collection keeps growing...

Attractive set, Garry, and these pictures appear much better on my screen.Quick Steel wrote: ↑Sat Feb 01, 2025 7:30 pm Tony, I hope you can find a set which consisted of 3 knives of different lengths: 9, 5 3/4, and 4 3/4 inches. As I recall, Only about 120 sets were made give or take.
The blades are composed of 3 welded steels, san-mai.
