Counterfeit Townley

I have what’s here is a Ken Toll made toothpick baring the Trademark stamp Townley over -D- over Kansas City over MO.
Ken Toll bought the Utica factory parts collection (2 or 3 semi trailers full) years ago. He spent the next 30 or so years making knives as a full time job using those parts. He made 10’s of thousands. He had all the original stamps as well since Utica did contract work for all the major knife manufacturers. He sold these knives at shows for 20 to 30 each as fantasy knives. Over the years they have spread throughout the country and lots of people think they are real.
Many Trademarks stamps were used and one sign to spot these knives is the shields were never inlaid and set on top of the bone etc. plus the stamps would be cold stamped.

Rhett Stidham did the same thing with Cattaraugus parts after Cattaraugus closed. He had a lot of tang stamps made and sold the unmarked cattaraugus blades with what ever tang stamp you needed. A lot of the unfinished blades you see on ebay came from him. I still se them every now and then.
