WWI Kukri photo

Post by PringleTree »

From my First World War photo collection. German soldiers with five British Commonwealth/Empire prisoners, including one "Devil in a skirt", as they called the Highlanders. One holds a souvenir kukri. Not a detailed view of the kukri, but I thought it might be of some use to those interested in the history of this weapon.

You would like Greg Aloisio's book, Knuckle Knives of Second World War. He has lots of pictures of trench knives being carried by GIs.

It’s a great book, but now out of print and if you can find a copy they usually go for $600 and up.
