The real FIRST 12OT ..... was from Ulster
Well, I sure was hoping I could get this one for my collection but some ones pockets were deeper than mine.
I saw this knife on ebay and it looks to be about the RAREST Old Timer that exists!!
This knife is a 12OT Sheepfoot Barlow made by Ulster during the same time they were making the Prince Albert offer knives. It has the same handle as the 10OT but the main blade is a sheepfoot.
When I saw it... my first move was to do some research. I only found one SHORT thread over on the "other" knife forum. They were discussing the existence of an Ulster 12OT and it was supposed to have been verified by a historian at Schrade.
They stated that "If this knife does exist, it needs to show itself." I took it by that statement, there wasn't even a picture of one out there.
I am posting it to first off, congratulate the buyer and new owner of this RARE Old Timer....
And then to see if ANYONE here has any information about this rarest of rare Old Timer.
Here is the seller's picture....
I sure looks like the real thing!
I doubt VERY SERIOUSLY anyone is good enough to have faked this knife!
It is a REAL beauty!

I see it sold for $362. Quite a premium (roughly a factor of 10) over its 10 OT brother from the same era.

Quite a find. Wish I owned one. You never know, there may be others out there.

You will eventually find one, Mike if you keep your eye peeled. Expand your search words into fixed blades, misspelled words, and so on. They are uncommon but not what would be called rare. Meanwhile, whilst searching for Grails, keep in mind that anything you say may be used against you (meaning competition). Just sayin... I have been looking for a certain unassuming plastic-handled knife for quite some time and one just sold for $125 or best offer. Gaaah... I ain't payin' that for that particular plastic-handled knife ( but I have paid MORE than that for SOME plastic handled knives.
All of this makes collecting interesting; does it not?

Re: The real FIRST 12OT ..... was from Ulster
Larry (COSRUS) has one on his site. That's the only one I've ever seen and I've been watching for one for at least 10 years. Records show that in 1964 36 dozen 12OTs shipped and that's it. Only 432 of them floating around and I never would have expected to see one that was still new. It's arguably the rarest production Old Timer pattern there is.

Thanks bud, I'll be posting lots of pictures when it gets here.Meridian_Mike wrote: ↑Wed Nov 17, 2021 12:41 pm I am posting it to first off, congratulate the buyer and new owner of this RARE Old Timer....
