Ozark “Grail” X 2 (‘23 & ‘24 versions)
the two are identical and of a quality that far exceeds the cost.
The difference is the recess for the reversible pocket clip The only difference is the 2024 blade is marked D2. There was no such marking on the 2023 version, even though the specs stated D2 blade steel.
Both of the orange WalMart “Bugout killers” have full steel liners, making them more stable than original Bugout. Then 2024 WalMart Christmas knife “drop” also included another Bugout copy that sold for $5.00. It has white scales, Benchmade style pivot only scales and blacked
out blade and hardware. I call it a copy, because it is full size and Benchmade only makes the “storm trooper” in the mini. I have to say the overall quality far exceeds the $5.00 price tag. Except for the lack of full liners and questionable blade steel, this is appears as good as either of the orange versions
Before anyone gets their “knickers in a twist”, I am in no way comparing either of these knives to a Bugout in any thing BUT looks. Do I think either of these knives would be a perfectly good “beater”? Absolutely! And if/when they are lost/broken, you haven’t lost the price of a romantic dinner out with the wife.
Out of curiosity, I did purchase several of the 2024 WalMart knives and a couple are even better than the highly touted Bugout copies. I may review them later. I’ve rambled enough.

I’ve read some other positive comments about these knives.
I find it impressive that I’ve never seen a review about an Ozark branded knife on a knife forum until this model came out. Yours is not the first review I’ve seen.
For five dollars, I might have to get one myself if for no other reason than to check it out.
Thanks for posting this.

You’re welcome. The two knives I mentioned as being better were both $5.00 knives as well. I’ll get a round tuit , and review them later.

I had some several years ago. They were the brown handles version with blackened steel, and I got a pair of them for $11. I had realized that I'd left home without a pocket knife, so I ran in Walmart and picked them up just to have something.
Great beater knives. I used the small one quite a lot until I lost it. I still miss it sometimes, though it was nothing special.
Mine held an edge well and was a durable knife.
I never replaced it as I prefer traditional style knives.

Picked this one up several years ago because l liked the pierced blade trademark. Pretty nicely made.

Nice looking Ozark trail. I really like that pierced logo.

"Ozark Grail" is a tag from YouTube for the 2023 Ozark Trail shaft lock D2 knife. That $10 knife generated enough interest to sell for many times the retail price. I saw one "sold" listing on eBay for $220.00 + 6.95 shipping for 12 knives.Mumbleypeg wrote: ↑Sun Dec 22, 2024 6:57 pm Jut curious - where does “grail” come in? Rhymes with trail%?![]()
