I love it when I find a 72 varient that I have been looking for. Even better when I find one that I was unaware of. This one is of the later type. Tom, in selling his fabulous Scout collection offered this one. A 1047 with a shackle. It came today

I picked up this "Camillus 72 clone" at a gun show over the weekend. Same size and shape as a 72, but has 2 blades. It is a Queen with the plastic version of the winterbottom handle material. It is not stamped, but is blade etched "Queen Steel #47". Hasn't been used much, but does have a few marks on the blade. Did I get a deal for $6.00?

BUT....apples and oranges. In NO way, shape or form, can your pocket knife
be considered a CAMILLUS 72 "clone" (I no longer use that word or term), a
CAMILLUS 72 "variation", a CAMILLUS 72 "wannabe", or a CAMILLUS 72 "lookalike."

Yesterday morning, my visit to the post office produced this CAMILLUS 72, variation, wannabe, or lookalike pocket knife. It now becomes my latest example to be posted under this topic or thread. It also became the latest example to be added to my collection. It is a HAMMER BRAND, three blades, one tang stamp, 3 5/8" closed, swelled center, a long main blade pull, two springs, "whittler", pattern or style of pocket knife. The main blade front tang stamp says "HAMMER (over) BRAND (with the flexed arm & hammer) and a vertical USA on the right side. The main blade does have a WEAK half stop. The main blade does have an OK opening snap. The main blade does have an OK closing snap. The secondary blade does have an OK half stop. The secondary blade does have a GOOD opening snap. The secondary blade does have a GOOD closing snap. The third blade does have a WEAK half stop. The third blade does NOT have an opening snap. The third blade does have an OK closing snap. This pocket knife is in VERY GOOD condition. This pocket knife did NOT need any cleaning at all.
I just wiped it off. I took some pictures and here it is.

Another beauty, Skip! Educate me. I was under the impression that the early Hammer brand was the New York Knife Co., and the later, like this circa 45-55 was an Imperial made knife. Whoever made it did a nice job though. Great condition for it's age also! A wonderful addition to the family.

I don't know who made it.
I would assume that since the Hammer Brand tang stamps are on the same
tang stamp chart as the Imperial tang stamps, that it was made by Imperial.
But.....
