QUEEN STEEL #43 QUESTION

I have been trying various sites and books looking for info on the Queen Steel #43. I found in the "Fourth Ed. Standard Knife Collector's Guide" by Roy Ritchie & Ron Stewart, the tang mark on this knife is the same that states that the knife was only made in the year 1976. Ok, one of my questions is, "How many did they make in that year?" Next question is, What would the values be from worn to Pristine Mint condition?

Is your knife a 2 5/8" pen knife? I think Queen made that pattern several years. I guess you are saying that the tang stamp has a big Q followed by 76 or a big Q with a triangle on top? What about the handle? Is it bone? If it's winterbottom bone, they list for 35 - 45 (mint) in Jim Seargent's American Premium Guide to Knives and Razors, 6th edition.

Hi Bryan,
Thanks for the reply on the Queen Steel #43.
It is 2-5/8" in length and the tang is stamped with the Big Q with a tail and a Crown over it and the numbers 76 next to it. The handles are dark brown grooved with white/ivory color I guess that is winterbottom bone.

As Bryan noted, I believe that pattern has been made several years. However, the 76 over the long tail of the big Q, was only used on knives made in 1976. At least you can date the year your knife was made...

I'm betting it's a nice knife, as well.
