Does anyone know custom knife maker Rody Stan? Is he Pak's brother?

Post by GSPTOPDOG »

I found and interesting listing on eBay today. If you like high quality custom handmade knives you might want to take a look at this listing.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/276666878443?_ ... ton+Custom

It looks like "custom knife maker" Rody Stan, makes incredible "high end knives" ::hmm:: ..... ::paranoid:: Is it possible he is the brother of well known knife maker Pak E. Stan? ... ::paranoid:: Because, it sure looks like the knife for sale is a great copy of a Marbles knife you can order off the SMKW's website ....

From the listing:

"Rody Stan HUGE CUSTOM HAND MADE D2 STEEL FIXED BLADE BOWIE HUNTING KNIFE - BRASS"

"This awesome hunting knife was designed and custom made by Rody Stan. Knife would look most impressive in any knife collection. so grab yourself a bargain to get this splendid knife. Knife not only looks gorgeous but it is also robustly constructed with its thick 4 mm. Rody Stan hand forged the blade of this knife with d2 steel."

If I’m reading it right it says the auction ended with 9 bids at $28.28. Sounds about right to me. ::nod::

You’re probably right. That description comes to about 10¢ a word I’d guess (I didn’t count them though).

Quoting the last portion of the ad GSPTOPDOG posted: "Country/Region of Manufacture Pakistan."

Dishonest/fraud or an attempt at humor? The $28.25 bid does include shipping on a box long enough to hold a sheathed 16 1/2" knife.

The bigger questions might be whether 16 1/2" would be unweildy fighting a fast moving sasquach and will it hold an edge long enough to to slash through the beast's fur and hide?

Never heard of "Rody Stan". I do however own a couple "Stan Paki custom" Barlows with bone and brass handles and Damascus blades. They are very nice knives for the price. I realize they are probably "all show and no go", but they are seemingly well built and dey shore is PURTY

Probably do even better at Etsy. I see a lot of “handmade customs” with asking prices north of $100 that retail for $10-15 (made in China ) or $20-25 (made in Pakistan)
