*Bolos are differentiated from other Filipino swords and bladed implements by their dual use as both tools and weapons. They are characterized by a curved (usually convex) wide blade that narrows towards the hilt, with pointed or blunt tips. There are various types of bolos differing by ethnic group and purpose.

That Bolo turned out great TopDog! Looks like a lengthy process and time to get it that way ... Excellent job!GSPTOPDOG wrote: ↑Fri Nov 08, 2024 12:06 amThanks CxIIICorn Creek Cutlery wrote: ↑Thu Nov 07, 2024 10:13 pm Great knife KJ ... one of a kind!![]()

Here is what appears to be a Filipino Bolo Knife. It had a thick coating of rust, so I soaked it in a vinegar bath and then cleaned it and coated in oil to protect the naked steel,
as oxidation is the constant enemy of the knife owner, lurking always just off in the shadows...

Looks like a really handy cutter, Garry, and it can also masquerade as a Karambit!
I don't know what you paid when you bought yours, but they certainly sport some high prices today.
Another fine Cold Steel product.
Very nice little knife, buddy!

Great pics of the clean up. Excellent results. Cool hand-le too, never seen a fist but it works. Good show.

I like the bone handle of the Bowie, it feels a little like a Gladius handle. I had to do some cleaning on the two blanks, they had been sitting around in my garage getting rusty
.... I am hoping to put handles on these F.Bs. in the near future...

Re: Show off your fixed blades!
THE Schrade #142 was attacked by some vermin that chewed on the rubber grips on both sides and threw one side all the way down to the metal
... So, I filled in the hole with liquid nails and topped it off with a two-part epoxy and green paint mixture (not so great a job at matching up the colors
)
