Something fishy with Fish knives

Hi All,

I was reworking another glorious “fish knife” by Imperial when
I noticed that one of the two has this apostrophe’ on one side and the other is blank. They both have the fish badge with two blades. The other blade has the scaler and hook tool. Anyone know what the difference might be?

Just out of curiosity, are the tang stamps the same?
Also, in your first picture, both blade pulls look the same,
and are on the same side on the knife on the right.
Here is mine for comparison.

Wondering if it was just a customization, does it look like it may just be glued on, or is it inlayed? Maybe he was a coach and thats his whistle. LoL
if not then thats interesting, and fun in either case.

The knife without an apostrophe has pinned side covers. The knife with an apostrophe does not. Are the apostrophe and the fish opposite it pinned through the liners to compensate for no pins?

I do not remember it in detail but those knives sure look like my father's fish knife. I think it was an Imperial. Did Imperial also make these knives with a hook sharpener shield?

Interesting. I have never seen a "comma" shield. Or an apostrophe shield either, for that matter. But "I" have seen " a lot of "apostrophes" where "they" don't belong!" " " "

Recall reading something about these having been produced as a promotional item for a chemical company, and that the "comma" (or "P" as I call it) is a type of flask. Mine's a small Jack.

Thanks for the link. At least we have a theory. I cant find any additional markings on my knife.

Here's mine the p is stamped in the shell handles just as is the fish, which I've always thought looked like a bugle mouth bass. This one has some good steel in the blades, it sharp as a razor.
