Here is a mid sized circle Remington advertising knife. No model number as standard with premium give away knives. The advertising is almost invisible and was merely stamped into the scales. On one side is stamped "MIDNITE EXPRESS". On the reverse side the stamping is mostly worn away with the following,"--------1940------". Hoping someone here has a similar knife that has visible writings.

I took a chance and bought this advertising pocket knife. When I found it, I immediately thought that it might be a tang stamped, "W & H" (Whitehead & Hoag), advertising pocket knife. A tang stamped "W & H" advertising pocket knife, that had a body pattern or style that I had not yet seen. The blades were almost black, so I could NOT tell if there actually was a tang stamp or tang stamps. I did NOT want to ask the seller to check, because I did NOT want the seller to possibly ruin any remaining, full or partial, tang stamp or tang stamps. Well.....

Yesterday morning, my visit to the post office produced this advertising pocket knife. It now becomes my latest example to be posted under this topic or thread. It also became the latest example to be added to my general, advertising, pocket knife accumulation. It is a F. H. NOBLE & CO, two blades, two tang stamps, 3 1/8" closed, all metal, one spring, advertising, pocket knife. Both tang stamps, are the curved or arched style. The main blade front tang stamp says, "F. H. NOBLE (over) & CO (over) CHICAGO ILL" The secondary blade front tang stamp also says, "F. H. NOBLE (over) & CO (over) CHICAGO ILL" The main handle side says nothing, it is blank. But, it does have on the right side, a logo or symbol with the letters, "C T A" inside a circle that is divided into thirds. The other handle side says, "CHICAGO TRANSPORTATION ASSOCIATION" The main blade does have a WEAK half stop. The main blade does have an OK opening snap. The main blade does have a GOOD closing snap. The secondary blade does have a GOOD half stop. The secondary blade does have a GOOD opening snap. The secondary blade does have a GOOD closing snap. It appears that, like the WHITEHEAD & HOAG COMPANY, F. H. NOBLE & CO was also an advertising company. I do NOT know if F. H. NOBLE & CO manufactured ANY of their own products or if they contracted out for all or some of their products. I am 99.999% positive that F. H. NOBLE & CO did NOT manufacture their own pocket knives. So, what knife or cutlery company manufactured this pocket knife for F. H. NOBLE & CO? I do NOT know, but it could very well have been made by a knife or cutlery company that also manufactured pocket knives for WHITEHEAD & HOAG. Overall, this pocket knife is in VERY GOOD condition. This pocket knife DEFINITELY NEEDED some cleaning, ESPECIALLY the blades. I took some pictures and here it is.

Yesterday morning, my trip to the post office produced this multi-tool, advertising, pocket knife. This multi-tool, advertising pocket knife was in a group or lot of pocket knives that I bought. It now becomes my most recent example to be posted under this topic or thread. I did NOT buy the group or lot of pocket knives to obtain this particular pocket knife. But, it did turn out to be a keeper. It did get added to my general, "foreign born", pocket knife accumulation. It is an UNBRANDED, two blades, two tools (a foil and wire cutting blade, and a corkscrew), 3 1/4" closed, multi-tool, advertising, pocket knife. There are NO remains of any maker stamps, markings or etches, anywhere on this pocket knife. There is NO country of origin indicated, anywhere on this pocket knife. I am 99.999% positive that it is from France. The main handle side says nothing, it is blank. The other handle side says, "CHAMPAGNE - GERARD DE RECONDO" The main blade does have a WEAK half stop. The main blade does NOT have an opening snap. The main blade does NOT have a closing snap. The secondary blade does NOT have a half stop. The secondary blade does NOT have an opening snap. The secondary blade does NOT have a closing snap. Both of the tools open and close with no problems. Overall, this multi-tool pocket knife is in GOOD condition. This pocket knife did NOT need any cleaning at all. I just wiped it off. I took some pictures and here it is.

The main blade does NOT have an opening snap. The main blade does NOT have a closing snap. The tools open and close without any problems. Overall, this pocket knife is in GOOD condition. This pocket knife did NOT require cleaning at all.

I was in the display case earlier....

Here's a few I keep in there.

M&J Electric of Princeton, WV.

They gave out a bunch of knives in the '80s--I've got a Kissing Crane Sodbuster from them as well. This one I bought locally, but all others Granddad got directly from the owner.

Bear Hunter oddball--Razor and hawkbill blades. Tiny "Pakistan" etch, but surprisingly good quality.

Imperial Ireland lockback--Cincinnati Mine Machinery Co.

The pen is much newer--early '10s. Given to me by a friend that was a miner, and it mostly lived in my pencil case for community college. Dug it out last year.

Queen #1 and Ready Tool screwdriver--Queen is dated 1976, screwdriver still has a 703 area code, so it's older--it's been at least 30 years since 703 was used in my part of SWVA. It was replaced by 540 and later 276.

Joy Manufacturing Company--Bluefield, VA Service Center (opened in the late '70s, closed in 2019 shortly after the P&H-Komatsu merger--business currently occupied by a plastics company that employs maybe 10 people--compared to about 300 as Joy).


Traded my (honestly, worn out) Case Barlow for the Queen--I bought the screwdriver for pocket change (maybe a dollar?).

Frontier (Imperial) 4434 Lg. Stockman--Pittston Coal Safe Worker along with one of my Granddad's service pins. My Granddad received the knife around the same time.

He worked at Seaboard Steel (#1 Mine if I remember correctly) from the mid '70s to late '80s--after leaving the dye industry (had moved to North Carolina shortly with the plant--but quickly moved back). Later, he was the parts man for a few small operators before retiring in 2000.

Good question--I don't know!!! lobster pattern.

Granddad got this one from United Central in the 1980s. I found it in the garage 6 or 7 years ago. Don't know if it was one he'd given me as a kid or one he himself lost.

Really weirdly assembled. It's a friction folder, and the blades are pinned to the frame with hollow rivets.
