Most of the guns they sell come from Turkey so that would be my guess for the knife as well.

Whoever made it exagerated the less broad section and forgot the serrations. I never liked dagers but have to admit the origanal Gerbers have lots of fans or their prices wouldn't be so high. If I recall correctly the originals were not stainless. I wonder if these are.

Re: Remake of Gerber MK II
Looks like the intent was to replicate the original Vietnam Mark II which did not have serrations and the wasp style blade. The original Gerber was tool steel and was not stainless. Looks a little bit narrower in the center than original. Still it’s a good looking knife. I like daggers even though the blade design really only has one purpose.Modern Slip Joints wrote: ↑Wed Jul 17, 2024 3:15 am Whoever made it exagerated the less broad section and forgot the serrations. You can always get more money, good old knives are hard to find.

This one is stainless, "Today the MAC Knife starts with a 440C blade that is ground and heat treated to 60HRc"
As I examine my copy, it is pretty clear that this knife has only one purpose, and it is not making sandwiches or cutting up vegetables.

Very sweet, ken! I have one of the all black reproductions.

Yes, one needs a knife with reach to get to the bottom of the mayonnaise jar.
Pocket, fixed, machete, axe, it's all good!

There's a Randal Arkansas toothpick with a 12" blade in the AAPK store. If you explain to its seller that you need the mayonase in the bottom of a gallon jar then to accomidate your special needs he might lower its price to a grand.1967redrider wrote: ↑Wed Jul 17, 2024 12:38 pm [...] Yes, one needs a knife with reach to get to the bottom of the mayonnaise jar.![]()

Ken, the link you attached is not bringing up the site. What was the cost on this knife? I'm interested in getting one.ken98k wrote: ↑Mon Jul 15, 2024 8:18 pm Just got my new MAC MK II Knife.

Re: Remake of Gerber MK II
GSPTOPDOG,
I don't have an original to compare this knife to but, the overall quality of the knife seems very good to me.
The Gerber MKII in any form is very hard to find these days so $99 seemed a fair price to me. As there are not a lot of uses for a knife of this style, mine will never see use beyond occasional fondling.
