Cozy Glen knives

The Queen Cutlery Company manufactured knives in Titusville Pennsylvania for 96 years. The company opened its only factory there in 1919 and commenced to make some of the best US crafted cutlery you will find. Unfortunately, the Titusville manufacturing plant closed down in 2018.

Cozy Glen knives

Post by robpa »

Kinda looking for Cozy glen knives made at Queen for the Daniels. Any info would be great too. I have found some very basic info like the name comes from the street they lived on in Ohio. Thanks.

From what I was told by Courtney Daniels when I purchased my mini trappers, in 2004-2005 Ken Daniels had the Cozy Glen Classic knives made under the Queen City brand name just before he left Queen to work with Bill Howard on starting GEC in 2006. Cozy Glen was indeed the name of the street he lived on in OH when the knives were made. A total of 100 pattern #51 mini trappers were made but I don't know if that is the number with each different handle material or the total of the pattern nor do I know what other patterns were made (apparently there was a canoe pattern) or how many of any other patterns were made.

As is typical of Queen knives made in the DFC era, the quality was hit and miss. Of the four mini trappers I bought, two had quality issues but the other two are very well made. So, if that small sample size is any indication, well...you can draw your own conclusions. (I sold one of the greenbones with the most quality issues but kept the other three.)

Knives made by Queen as SFO's for the Daniels family prior to the departure of Bill Howard (and founding with Ken Daniels of GEC) in 2006 are (in my experience) consistently of high quality. I have about 40 of them and they are great. I personally avoid buying Queens made after about 2007 because of the overall drop in quality control.
