Here's a couple that just came.
The Schrade Walden is a whole new way of acquiring knives for me. A first ever knife gift from the only one of ALL the nieces and nephews I have given knives to that wanted to give me one back. She knows exactly what kind of bone I like. Still can't believe a nine year old thinks like that.

That is soooooo cool! Clearly you made an impression on your niece and she was perceptive enough to know your taste. I agree that it's extraordinary for a 9 year old to think and act as she did in getting that knife for you considering the social media induced "me culture" influencing the minds of so many kids these days. Great story, thanks for sharing.

Looking for comments. I picked this knife up as a one of a kind. Certainly not a handy knife or useful for that matter.

I don't keep up on Pakistani knife market values at all, but $600 seems a bit steep for that knife to me (For your sake, I really hope that's not a reflection of how much you have invested in it.)

Looking for comments. I picked this knife up as a one of a kind. Certainly not a handy knife or useful for that matter. But one I had to have. Bone handles. Brass liners. Ten blades!!! All pinned at the same end. Several different styles of blades. I do not know the type of steel the blades are made of. Good snap on all ten. Hesitation at the halfway open/close position.IMG_4733.jpeg

I have seen one like it, at a barber shop in Fort Payne Alabama. It is made in Pakistan, and is a showpiece / conversation piece, not made to be used. The barber shop won't sell theirs to me, though.

I picked up this Barminski* ... the scales drew me in


*Tom Barminski was a renowned knife maker from Loveland, Colorado, known for his custom fixed blade knives made from D2 tool steel. His knives are highly sought after by collectors and enthusiasts alike. Unfortunately, Tom Barminski passed away in 2013, but his legacy lives on through his beautifully crafted knives, which can still be found in various shops and collections.

How’s that fit your grip, I’m yet to find one the fits my hand besides the ones I’ve notched myself.

I picked up this Barminski* ... the scales drew me in

How’s that fit your grip, I’m yet to find one the fits my hand besides the ones I’ve notched myself.

It is OK, it is not a perfect fit, I prefer a grip more like the Randle Knives "Border Patrol" grip/handle, if you have seen that one, or the Randle #1 style grip.

On a side note, some of y’all may remember I carried a Case Longhorn on my belt and Bear Mgc in my pocket. Well I laid my longhorn down while fishing about a month ago- and walked away and lost it- it’s been a blow - I’m willing to trade someone for one - from knives above or whatever you desire, let me know and I’ll let you know what I have. Is the above Axe a fair trade for a Longhorn?

The latest 2 to add to my RoseCraft Blades brand pile from our friend Tony, sent along with a beautiful Begg Knives slip-joint.

First, a 6 3/4" RC Blades Tanasi River Tear-Drop slip-joint with a D2 single spear-point blade and outstanding dyed blue covers. There is NO apparent brass on this baby, only NS and steel. Did you hear that, Mark, NO brass!

Then there's this 5" RC Blades Awanata slip-joint with a D2 steel Wharncliffe blade and black G-10 covers accompanied by an integrated lanyard loop. Has quite a strong pull, and keep your fingers clear of the closing blade to avoid losing any, although, it does have a half-stop. Sent as a gift from Tony!

This final knife is the one that really caught my attention, and it's a Begg Knives brand BG037 slip-joint with a Sandvik SS blade, black G-10 covers that include an arrow head shield on both sides, SS bolsters and liners, and smooth action opening/closing with a half-stop. Tony compares this knife as on par with RR Reserve and RoseCraft Blades knives.

I've been trying really hard to cut down on my purchasing, but every now and again I spot something and.....well, this post shows how I'm doing with that!
