Camillus small congress 2 blade.

The Camillus Cutlery Company was one of the oldest knife manufacturers in the United States with roots dating back to 1876. The company manufactured Camillus branded knives and was a prolific contractor for other knife brands up until its last days in 2007 when the company filed for bankruptcy.

Camillus small congress 2 blade.

The first knife I ever owned was a Camillus 2 blade Congress that my dad bought for me. I still have it and it is a smaller version of the #40. There isn't any markings left on mine but I was wondering what model it would be. It would be from the early sixty's. It measures 3'' closed. I appreciate any help.

Welcome here, I am showing a small congress that is 3 1/16" closed. It might be your knife in question.

Differences in the factory's sanding and buffing or in the accuracy of collectors' measuring could account for 1/16". Alternatively, if the old set of dies used to stamp out handle parts wore out the tool and die maker might not have thought it was important to exactly dublicate the old set. The parts in many modern Case knives do not interchange with the same pattern knife from decades ago. It's probably the same with Camillus.
