And here we are downstream on the White River at Bever Lake. We fished the White River and caught Walleye but also fished the Lake and caught these Stripers. That is my old butt in the middle, it was taking everything I had to hold them higher than the cooler while taking several pictures.

Nice, John! It's really green now around here with mild temperatures. Our lifeguard was wearing a shirt today because he's used to the 100° weather. But the pool temperature is still 81°.
Pocket, fixed, machete, axe, it's all good!

She looking real healthy BigHomer! I am hoping for some cool temps end of September. It's usually pretty warm beginning of season.
I am only hunting for the Big One this year ... freezer still has plenty, but as usual, we will see what happens. Love this time of year!

Here is a little beauty near us.

Corn Creek Cutlery,
That is an interesting piebald yearling in your picture! I really enjoy seeing the difference in deer in the same group.

Hopefully get out and try and shoot some Doves next weekend. Look forward to it every year even if it is on public land. In northern Illinois it is not the best but it will have to do otherwise I have to give an arm or a leg for a half day.
Did it a couple times with my son years back. It is a long drive and a lot of money or public. Last time he went out was pandemic year. Always good to have the kids along.

Re: Outdoorsman Thread
Lost a hen yesterday, she wasn’t anywhere to be found. Today I learned what likely happened to her. About 11 this morning I heard the dogs barking their “alarm” bark, which is different than a regular bark. I came around the house to see what the ruckus was, and found a coyote eyballing the chicken yard. It saw me about the same time, and lit out for the brush behind the chicken house. By the time I pulled my pistol it was going into the brush. The funny thing was, the Guinea fowl were chasing it.
The dogs were too, now that I was there to provide back-up.
I went back to work but a few minutes later the dogs started barking again. This time I had the pistol ready. About 30 yards, running target, lucky shot.

Re: Outdoorsman Thread
I’d be doing good (and bragging)
if I got that close on paper at that distance! Like I said, lucky shot. Didn’t seriously think I’d hit it, but if not I was just trying to scare it off. Figured if it came back again I’d get the rifle out of the truck. I try to coexist with them, until they start after the chickens! That’s a declaration of war.
