Union Cut. Co. Olean NY

The KA-BAR brand originated as a trademark of the Tidioute Cutlery Company. Tidioute was later taken over & renamed the Union Cutlery Company which continued making the brand until Union eventually adopted it as the company name in 1952. Cutco Corporation later acquired the company in 1996.

First time I've seen a punch like that, thanks for posting. ::handshake::

According to my old eyes that is a very beautiful, practical and desirable old knife. Love those bones. ::nod:: ::tu::

That is the Union Cut co punch design used on all their KA-BAR branded knives to at least WW2. You gotta beware if you see an pre-war KA-BAR with any other punch. That is a GORGEOUS harness jack!!

I have this knife and could use some assistance helping me decide exactly what it is.
I think it’s called a trapping knife??
According to my research it could be from 1897-1909. Does that sound about right?
I understand it’s not in impeccable condition, but does anyone have an idea of what I should ask for this on Ebay?
Should I try and clean it up myself before posting it?

Thanks for your time!

I believe it's sometime after 1923.
