I picked this one up off of ebay. I liked it because of the history. Bell System was broken up in 1983, I think, so it's likely not any newer than that.

This blade was primarily used in cable splicing operations, slicing cable jackets, hacking copper pairs, etc. Made by Utica, with leather handles and copper rivets. I cleaned up the active rust, treated the leather, and it's on display in my office. While we don't work as much with OSP copper anymore, we have in the past, so It's a nice memento of my younger days...

Cool memory and find for you. My stepmom worked for Southwestern Bell in my hometown for over 30 years. She started out as a switchboard operator and then sometime in the 80's the switchboards were shut down for some reason and she started going out in the field. She retired soon after. :)

Not sad or nerdy at all, Mark, it puts you more in the company of well respected Star Trek aficionado, and there are plenty of folks out there that wish they knew what you do about the subject, since the culture is, and likely will continue to be a much followed "Happening" the world over. ::nod::
I can't honestly say I have your recollection abilities, but whenever an episode shows on TV or somewhere else, I can say, "I remember this one, it's the one where...".

Another fine Cold Steel knife, Tony, this must make quite a few you have now. One of these days I'll pull out my C/S big guns and give you a treat. ::handshake::

I really like that Cold Steel Tony. Been eyeing those myself for some time. One of those with a San Mai blade and eel skin handle sold for about 3000 on eBay a few days ago. What a gorgeous knife that is.

Rick, that’s a beauty and it won’t be your last one, believe me.

Thanks Mark ... looking forward to seeing your C/S collection!
Thanks Mark SSK! This is my first C/S made in Japan. Would have been sooner, but the going prices are high as you stated. Got this one at a steal.
NICE GEC Rick! I have yet to buy one ... but one day...

I haven't been on this thread in a while and I'm seeing some real nice knives.

I finally received the knives I won on the Voyles auction. Descriptions are from the auction listings.

1st. Schrade Classic Collectable Pearl Dirk2, SCHDIRK2P, "God Armeth the Patriot" on the blade, Stewart A Taylor and Sons, ornate bolsters, in original display box, mint condition.

2nd. Schrade 2010 folding guard lockback built on the pattern of the legendary folding hunter switchblade of Schrade. Only two knives were made in this series. Handles are a little more square than the 2008 and not bone.

3rd. G Grafrath Wood Sod Buster, Germany

Thanks, Iman! Nope, Bear & Son made the Remingtons from 2006-2017. They are really good quality. I only have 2006-2013, but on a couple I’ve encountered a little rough feel when opening the blades rather than a smooth “glide.” Not much, but enough to notice. Honestly, it’s difficult to notice any difference between the Remingtons made by Camillus (1982-2005) and those made by Bear & Son. Others may disagree with me.
