Outstanding Gus, simply outstanding. That would be a grail knife for me as well.
Charlie you never cease to amaze.

Thought I would post these two here. Got the sister to the MOP version of this Loveless designed knife made in Seki Japan, the black lip pearl version. A.G. Russell had these two scales offered on this knife. Kind of a grail knife for me as well. These hardly ever go up for sale anywhere. I bought the MOP from Roland Procter about 5 years ago and was glad to have it. Been looking for the black lip pearl version since then.

Veeery Nice pair! The black lip pearl has always been my favorite of the MOP varieties and the handle on that one is especially nice. 8) ::tu::

Thanks, it's been a labor of love collecting. Never thought it would get to be such an addiction. Not sure what I've enjoyed more, actually having the knives or learning about it all.

Seeing SSk's Loveless-designed, MOP AG Russell knives reminded me of my Loveless-designed, scrimshawed 'City Knife' pair made in Italy by Lone Wolf Knives (pre-Benchmade). These are part of my Ivory sub-collection; in this case, the ivory is actually interior Mammoth.

Thought I would post this here since it’s a sub group in my collection. All knives made by G. Sakai, but mostly they share the same blade shape. Always liked this blade shape and struggled with each of these purchases with whether to carry them or not, ultimately decided not to. Don’t use a skinning knife that much or one that I need to slice with. I’ve liked SOG Seki Japan knives for many years and think they are some of the finest you can get. Also the Kershaw Seki Japan are some mighty fine knives as well. The one with the black lip pearl is one I just got last weekend. It’s a G. Sakai branded knife.

Mark, I had to check to make sure these Japanese iterations were yours only because I hadn't previously associated these types of big slicers with you. This is a very interesting and specialized sub-collection. The brands and their Japanese origin confirm the manufacturing excellence you have gathered together. I have always found those big bladed swooping curves highly appealing. ::tu::

Those Pearl Russells are just stunning, Mark!

Awesome scrimshaws, Q! Absolutely beautiful knives!

And really like those Sakais, too, Mark!

Very nice knives Mark!!! ::tu:: ::tu:: ... ::hmm:: ... I was always a big fan of G. Sakai as "Hikaru Sulu", (helmsman of the USS Enterprise). ... ::uc:: I had no idea that he had started making cool knives! ::shrug::

Thanks Garry, Tim and GSP.

I have an attraction for those sweeping blades too Garry. These are a small part of my collection. Got into buying these many years ago, I think it was around 2009. The regulators were trying to ban these types of knives under Obama and I bought a bunch thinking they wouldn’t be around very long. Like many of the gov’t overreach’s it was stopped in the courts. These are just a few of those that I bought back then. Wish I hadn’t sold some of those that I did sell.

I sold a bunch of Seki-City knives from the 80's and 90's when I got divorced .... ::doh:: .....I really did not need to sell them in the end... ::dang:: and now I can't/won't replace that stuff at 2024 prices.... ::facepalm::
