Update on Alyson.

I know Alyson is tired... I pray that God will give her the strength she needs.

I am grieved to hear this, because of what Alyson is going through, and for what you are going through with her, Dale.
I have prayed for her healing. I will continue to ask for that, but if that is not our Lord's will then I shall also ask for peace and comfort.
We have never met, yet I still consider you a friend.

I was getting emotional reading your post, Dale. I don't know how you hold it together. It must truly be God's love and you and Alyson's faith in him helping you through this.

Brother Dale, we've had so many deaths in our church family and community in the last month and now to learn Miss Alyson has been called home is another blessing in disguise. No more pain and suffering for her is one of our comforts but knowing she is with her Lord and Savor is the real comfort.
Still the hole in our hearts is there and we each deal with death in different ways. I'm reminded of a special verse in the 116th Psalm that says, "Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints." Let us all take courage in this verse as we know where she is.

I too have been praying for you both for a long time. God loves Alyson so much that He didn't want to see her suffer anymore. She is with Him in His loving arms now. She has a rest and a peace we can only understand when we see our Lord face to face in His heavenly kingdom.

God bless you and I will continue to pray for you that God will give you a peace that passes our understanding, and strength to carry on until you and Alyson can see each other again.

That's the worst news I've heard to date. It ain't easy brother but I've watched my favorite cousin go through it twice and he's sad but making it so you will too. You're strong and you have a wonderful support group so hang in there.

Words cannot express my gratitude for the tremendous love, support and prayers you all have poured into our lives the past years as Alyson and I fought through her battle with metastasized breast cancer. That battle ended Tuesday morning in victory! She is no longer in pain but is in the arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

I Corinthians 15:54-57
"When the perishable puts on the imperishable, and the mortal puts on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written: “Death is swallowed up in victory.” “O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?” But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law.
But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ."

Alyson has shed her mortal body and put on her immortal, imperishable  body. She now resides in Heaven with the Lord and innumerable friends and family. She is able now to fully appreciate the Joy of the Lord!

We are and will continue to grieve her passing. We all miss her so much! There is an enormous hole in all our hearts! I know with time the Great Physician will heal that wound because God is good, but the process will take time and there will no doubt be painful times.

Many people ask me, "How are you doing?" Honestly, I'm not sure. I think I'm doing pretty good, but there are rough times also. The big issues you can see coming and sort of prepare for them. It is the small thing that catch you off guard when you are not expecting them. I will be around AAPK, and as my life requires a new rhythm, I have no doubt I will be back more and more. So much of my time in the last 3 years has been devoted to caring for Alyson that I have largely ignored my knives and my shop. Priorities. There are so many things to do with her gone, but frankly, i'm not ready to do some of them yet. However, my shop has been sadly neglected and needs to be cleaned before I get back to work. I began that process today by replacing the old air conditioner which had ceased functioning. At least I won't be roasted in my own shop!

Dale, you and Alyson have been in my prayers and I'll keep you in prayers. I've lost so many friends and family and that is painful, but dread the day I might lose a child, grand kid, or Jane and have no idea how I'd get through that other than with the prayers of friends and family. I've watched many of my friends struggle with the grief of losing their spouse or a child. Some seem to handle it with grace and comfort that God gives, and some can barely function for years, especially when they don't have the blessed assurance of eternal life in Heaven that gives a degree of comfort even while the grief attacks. My heart hurts for you and the close friends who are dealing with loss. May God bless you especially during long nights and afternoons that seem to be the worst times for many.____Dave
