Is there a kid still inside you?

If you can think of something to talk about that is not related to knives, discuss it here.

Is there a kid still inside you?

Post by MissouriGuerrilla »

I am just about to turn 56 and I am not ashamed to say that I still get excited about Christmas, I will purposely walk thru rain puddles, I will go stand out in the rain and look skyward, I will walk through the toy section to see what I might've missed out on if I were young now, still get excited to go to an amusement park (Silver Dollar City jumps to mind), and I love to look at the old Christmas catalogs that I used to look through when I was a child that are online now.
So does the kid in you still exist and show themselves from time to time?

I like having a bottle opener in my pocket during the hot season. Few one hand opening knives have them, multi-tools are uncomfortably large and square cornered, and SAK don't hold an edge well so I am carying a Camillus made Remington scout/utility/camp knife. While I like to think my reasoning sounds adult, it's what we all carried in elementary school. During 6th grade, rather than riding the bus, rain snow or sunshine I pedaled my bicycle 2 1/2 miles to school. I recently bought a pedal bike. It's for adult exercise of course.

Absolutely!! We all love talking pocket knives on this forum. I'm 64 tommorow and will always keep my child like wonder! Attached is a picture of my old lunchbox I had in 67. It's just a picture of it. I dont actually have my lunchbox anymore, but I googled it the other day and found one. If there wasnt the kid still inside me why would I do that! Still slide on the ice and love to go out in the snow. Sill like my bicycle as well. Stay young as long as you can!! Young at heart that is!! :D

I still get asked what I want to be when I grow up. The answer is"dead". I still have and ride my 26 inch bike I've been riding for the past 60 some years. I just had another one given to me and ride that too. I have about ten bikes total and I don't actually collect them. I collect a lot of things kids like to collect and my office is full of them. I call the room my toy room because the office part is pretty small. I tell my wife that us guys are either just old children or grumpy old men, and she really doesn't want the grumpy one. If I do "grow" up, I just want to be Grandpa Dave and spent my time playing with my grandkids biking, clowning around and basically irritating grown-ups.____Dave

Well now the boss tells me to grow up every once in a while. I turned 79 recently, only run when I absolutely have too, refrain from jumping and ain't climbed a tree in years but the little devil is still in there.

A bit over 65, still waiting to become a mature responsible adult.

Here's a toolbox that I think I got for Christmas when I was 6 or 7 years old. It's getting some age on it.

At 77 years old, yesterday showed some kid was still there. Yesterday I took my old bike out that I've been riding for since I was about 10 out for a ride, then came home and carved some handles for an old cap gun that I bought years ago without it's original ones. Then I took some Tylenol and went to bed.____Dave
