Case Tested xx Question

Is this a 5375 pattern? Do all 1920 to 1940 Case knives have a Pattern
Number stamped on the blade?

Yes that is a 5375 and as Stockman said, 99% of Case Testeds do not have pattern numbers - a few will - and knives older than Tested usually will.

1919 to 1946, I just wanted to try and set the record straight on the dates for Tested XX. Most books and collectors use the 1920 to 1940 dates. It has been proven that this is NOT true. There is a long road to education of a massive amount of people. Not that it changes the price of tea in china, but it is a misconception that has been carried on for many many years and must be corrected or it will be lost in the history books. It is us collectors that really steer the information and we must strive to get it correct for future generations. Put a slip of paper in your book that gives the correct dates and tell others. If you don't believe me, then ask my friend Mr. Levine who is a "knife expert" and he will validate it.

PA, just wondering how the 1919 start year for the Tested stamp has been validated?

I fully agree with the idea that the Case Tested stamp was used until the end of WWI - I posted a lengthy dissertation about that on one of these forums a few months ago.

I'm not necessarily disagreeing with 1919 as the start date for the Case Tested stamp but I do have my own theory that places it later - I will post details when I have time.

I would also be very interested in hearing about the transition to the tested era if anyone has some info to share... Let's open every can of worms we can find.

I've been wanting to put some effort toward researching and writing up a conclusive report of some kind about this topic to put on this website. ...Unfortunately, I have not had time ...yet

being in good codition wonder what it's worth?
