Help to date Case xx 2159 L SSP

Hello everyone. This is my first post on this site. I am hoping someone can help me with the year of manufacture of this Case XX 2159 L knife. I have been told it is from either 1989 or 1999 so I would like to find out for sure which before I list it for sale. Thanks in advance.

Welcome to AAPK. The answer to your question can be found by clicking on “Research” in the header at the top of this page. Scroll down to the section on W. R. Case & Sons Cutlery.

Then click where it says “Age identification”, which will lead you to the stamp used in the 1980’s decade (your knife).

One dot remains = 1989.

With this you can find the dates of other Case knives you may encounter in the future.

1989. SSP means stainless steel blade and springs and polished cutting edge. It should have left the factory sharper than the average Case but that was a long time ago and hardly relevent if it's been used.
