Bought as USA Sharpfinger but don't think it is

Post by methadoneman »

This is a China knife right? I just was wanting a US made sharpfinger and this one was listed on eBay as a US sharpfinger. I saw the older looking sheath and bought the knife. It never occurred to me until just now when I went to examine my new additions that my knife didn't have tang stamps and said US no where on the knife. I didn't think people would be pulling tricks on knives that really aren't worth much money. Hopefully I'm wrong but I am 99.9 percent sure you guys are going to confirm that my knife is a China made model.

The tang stamp seems consistent with the China-made Schrades...

. I can't believe someone would lie about a knife like that for just a few bucks. They clearly stated US knife and although I should have did even the slightest bit of checking out what I was buying I wouldn't be in this situation anyways . I just wasn't looking for a mint example and wasn't being picky and I just bought the first good looking cheaper knife that said it was a USA old timer. Hopefully I can get my money back but I'm not sure how that works on eBay.

Presuming ebay has not changed in the few years since I've used them, you can easily get your money back. Start a return and for the reason choose not as advertised. When that's the reason ebay automaticly offers you a return label to print which they bill to the seller. He or she are forced to refund your bid and the shipping you paid. The seller likely will be pissed and might get creative trying to stick it to you. Alternately they might say it was a mistake and give you a little something for your trouble. Doing that avoids negetive feedback.

Is it my imagination or does the tang stick down below the edge further than US Schrade Sharp Fingers?

A return and refund of your money including shipping actually works quite easily on ebay, In fact, some think it is way too easy. Just open the auction that you won, click on refund request and fill out the reason box and attach your pictures and I think it is highly likely that ebay will refund all of your money that was invested in this misrepresented knife.

You are correct, it is definitely not made in the USA.
I have seen a few of the new imported Sharpfingers on eBay listed as "Schrade USA" when they definitely are not.
I tend to believe that some sellers just do not know the difference, but then I want to believe that people are honest.
I agree with beginning a return on it, since it was not described correctly.

In all fairness to the seller, they probably didn't know it was an Asian made knife. Not everyone that sells knives is a knife expert.

Now hold your horses, just a minute.....the seller may not be educated about the difference. Some people think
Schrade is still in business making these knives.
I would request a return, even if the seller doesn't back you ebay will.
In the future always check for the USA stamp.
