Estate sale pick up.

Just picked this beautiful Case XX 1940-1964 up at an estate sale for $40. I was just wondering if this was a decent deal. It has strong snap on all blades. As usual, any information would be appreciated, pattern number is 5347HP

What does a new stag stockman sell for? Does it "walk and talk?" I'm guessing $40 is probably a good deal, and I'm sure you could easily get your money back should you decide to sell it.
I have found that a knife is generally worth whatever you are willing to pay for it.

Nice knife! The primary blade has clearly been worn/sharpened down quite a bit, but I'm sure that the knife is worth more than the $40 you paid.

In equal condition a knife that old is worth quite a bit more than a recently made knife and being stingy with their stag Case has only put it on small and tiny knives for quite a few years, so I wouldn't worry about what you paid. My father wisely advised after you buy stop shopping. Finding what you just bought has since gone on sale only makes you unhappy. You got the best price you could when you needed what ever it was.

If you feel kind hearted you could show us the reverse side's stag. We love stag.

There you go. A quick offer at a (small) profit. That usually indicates that you DID NOT get "a decent deal", you got a good, maybe even a great deal. That, of course, is just my opinion and I could be wrong.(apologies to Dennis miller for the plagiarism).

Looking at the pic presented I think you got a very good deal. Stag prices
have recently gone up on new and used knives.

Most other "Estate Sale" Yard Sale" posts seem to be a similar knife, maybe bone scales, maybe wood, for about $2-$5 sometime as much as $10! $40 seems more like an ebay price to me, but, I am no expert .... When I go to a "sale" where in theory the people having the sale actually want to get rid of stuff, I expect to find a price that makes you grab for your wallet like a gunfighter for his 6 gun at high noon in the middle of the dusty street... a lone tumble weed rolling by....
