Hi from a newbie!

Hi all... I just joined the forum today... my name's Mike, and I think I've picked up this knife-collecting "addiction"

Ordinarily, I collect wrist-watches, with 45 or so in my collection - everything from Seiko to Rolex, and a section dedicated to military-issued watches. Well, I seem to have gotten into the knife thing by accident. My collection is unimpressive by your standards, but I'm pleased with each of the knives I own for different reasons.

I'm only interested in collecting knives I can (and will) use (same thing with my wristwatches too). I have no preference yet on where a knife is manufactured, so long as it is well made and will take - and hold - an edge well. I'm very much at the learning stage, particularly where blade materials are concerned, also the best way to maintain and re-sharpen blades.

Well, I guess that's enough of an intro. Here's my very modest collection so far. I can tell you know some things about the things you do by the quality of your words and photos and background in the photos.

This site is super and the people here will teach you many things. And it’s all FREE too. The best way to learn here is to ask it in a post.

I have been telling others here that some one should make a tab at the top just to click on and label it Knife Care. So new people can fallow about 3 ways to clean and preserve their knifes. I for one went to I-Like-Knives and bought one of his kits (Item # 8067 ) from him and he e-mailed me the steps to fallow to preserve my knives. I am sure if you ask him he will do the same for you.

Many here will not say it but they are addicts when it comes to owning beautiful knives made of steel with long smooth handles. Well constructed and balanced likes a jeweled watch. Just like a pretty woman in their hands. OOPS there I go again sorry. I see you to have been bit by that bug. Things will only look up from this point in your KNIFE LIFE. I find thing that are harder to get are more valuable to me. Soon you will know that value its not all $$$$$ in the knife world. At least not here in this site.

Jump in and don't let anybody tell you you're doing it wrong. Uhm you really should have your knives in a roll. Everyone has their own opinion and most of the people here are glad to help with questions.

You are off to a great start, they are all nice knives for using.
Problem is once you start you can't stop. I started out like you, I only wanted users. Then after a while you find yourself buying knifes that you just want to look at. Then you start looking for rare knives, custom knives, old knives, certain brands, patterns, styles and it goes on and on. And with all the enablers here it just gets worse.
So welcome to the forum. You're in for life.
