Barlows does anyone else love them

Here are a few of my sub collection of barlows. My RCC barlow collection plus a few Congresses. Northfield barlows and last Tuna Valley Old Man Norman barlows plus a Phoenix jack. The Old Man Norman barlows look more like tear drop jacks, but that’s what they called them.

I never had that many Barlows, at least not all at the same time. My collection seems to be more of a temporary waystation for Barlows; some coming in while others are going out. These five are the only Barlows that seem to have taken up permanent residence...but for how long is anyone's guess.

I bet there's at least (1) that will take up permanent residence permanently, ~Q~, first picture/far-right, with dead-center a possibility or even for sure!

That may seem like an obvious choice, marco, except there are also many unseen factors both positive and negative associated with it and the others in the group. For example, the Bulldog Brand right next to that GEC #77 Northfield Stag Yankee Barlow just happens to have the added sentimental factor of being associated with and even resembling (to my eye anyway) my late dog, Lehua, who passed away in 2017. Sometimes it's intangibles like that that can determine how long a knife will stay in my collection. Other factors like type of blade steel can also factor in, and unfortunately, the 1095 steel used in most GEC knives including that #77 just does not do well in the salty, humid climate where I live and, consequently, requires more long-term care and maintenance than I am either willing or able to provide.

Bought this Colonial today, unopened, in the box, and wrapped in the original plastic. It says, "Prov.USA" and I'm hoping it is indeed made here. The quality is not especially good, could be the last gasp of the company. It's absolutely mint and I'll keep it as a sad reminder of a once important, American knife giant. J.O'.

I'm sure that from what you know about me, ~Q~, some of the reasons you listed are of little importance to me, but by the same standard I'm just as certain they're very important to you, and rightfully so.
My comment was born from an attempt at a little levity as well as my lack of knowledge regarding many aspects of knives, but since I've watched and read about your passion for Wharncliffe blades it seemed obvious and appropriate.
I must say that I'm quite impressed at your thinking when it comes to steel type and corrosion due to your location, I mean really, who other than a dedicated collector would even consider things like that.
The one thing that we're definitely on the same page about is your Lehua, anything that can conjure memories and good feelings, like looking at her picture and your B-dog knife, are the most important reasons to hang-on to both.
My condolences, buddy, they're like losing a member of the family.
