"Cutlery Co Little Valley" knife

I have a two-bladed knife with "CUTLERY CO LITTLE VALLEY" on one side of the larger blade and the numbers 2265 printed at an angle on the other. There seems to be a 5th number I can only partially see. I think the handle is wood. The research I've done makes me think it is a Cattaraugus Cutlery Company knife. However, I cannot find one like it or even one with the same factory number on the Cattaraugus Cutlery website. Any ideas or information?

Welcome to the site.
It looks like a Cattaraugus Peanut with bone handles. The full number would likely be 22659.I don't believe this model was produced with wood handles.It would help if you could decipher that last number.

Thanks for the info. I am not a knife collector; just happened to come across this one in an old toolbox from a deceased friend's estate. The number is printed at an angle, so the last one is covered by the bolster. Bone makes a lot more sense than wood, though! Any idea what the age & value might be or how I could find out?

First thing is positive identification. If it is a Catt.Peanut,it will be 2-3/4" long. Catt. stamped their numbers staight across the tang, when you say it is stamped on an angle it poses a question. It would really help if you could get a clear close-up of both tangs and let everyone look at whatever remains of the main stamp and see the number stamp. Also a good clear close-up of the handle will show the the material better and also the jigging on the bone. Do not try and clean the knife as this could remove the patina that many collectors like.
Cattaraugus was in business from 1890 to 1963 and made quality knives that are quite collectable.

Cattaraugus, model #22659, 2 3/4" long closed, jigged bone handles.

Judging from your picture the handles are heavily pocket worn, the front side has a crack across it. The back side looks loose, as it sticks up above the rear bolster. the bottom pin looks to have been replaced as it is unusually large.

The blades have deep scratches, rust, and wear.

The knife has minimal value, it can be cleaned and carried and would make a very good EDC.

The knife isn't in good condition at all, but it belonged to my 85-year-old friend's father so I thought it might be one of the earlier ones

made. I already did some cleaning in order to read the name and numbers. Thanks again for your help.
