I think it's a vintage 1980's repro.

If it's fake, it's got me fooled. I thought the reproductions were in Delrin, this one looks to be bone.
I only own one Remington bullet, so I don't have much to compare but this one certainly looks legit. It is a little odd to see the etch on the secondary, but my book shows it the same way. Also the etch seems to be over a glazed finish which is strange but I don't really see why it couldn't be.
In any case nothing jumps out at me.

Re: What do you think of this Remington Bullet?
With the remington collector, asking what do you think of this knife? I started looking for
some big ole fake thing, but I do not see it. I even noticed one thing that rc told me about that he liked to see on knives that were authentic. The tangs were hard to see so I did not pay attention to them. I thought that maybe the blades were newer stainless, but I don't think so.
The handles are bone. The only thing that might be is that it is a really well made counterfeit.

Re: What do you think of this Remington Bullet?
What concerns me about the knife is the fact that it's missing the R1123 tang stamp on the pile side of the spey blade? Shouldn't that be present?

Re: What do you think of this Remington Bullet?
I would say its good just by looking at the pictures, but if i could hold it in my hands i would really look the blades over. The clips finish and tang stamp is worn alot more than the spay,,i'm thinking theres a chance that the spay could possibly be a later replacent.

Re: What do you think of this Remington Bullet?
In my opinion the spey blade has been put in this knife. As has been said already its missing the pattern number and the finish is incorrect, it should have a crocus polish on it to accept the etch. In the 3rd picture you can really see the vertical lines running the width of the blade, totally incorrect for this knife. I believe the rest of the knife to be authentic.

Re: What do you think of this Remington Bullet?
I'm not sure, but I've saw no less than 3 blades exactly like this one, and 2 of them were in complete fake knives. Looks alot like a Bowen but should have repo on the tang, same with the 82 blade.

I'm missing something. Why would the pattern number be on the spey blade? It's clearly marked on the clip (?) blade. Is the pattern number stamped on the spey blade on this model?

I would expect the pattern number to be on the tang of both blades.

Re: What do you think of this Remington Bullet?
I wondered if it was a Bowen as well and that someone might have ground off the name on the tang.

Re: What do you think of this Remington Bullet?
Were not the Bowen knives (and all other Remington bullett repros) all made with stainless steel blades? Seems to me that the SS blades would not develop a patina and would stick out like a sore thumb if put into an older knife.
Were all Remington bullets marked with the pattern number on both blades, or am I misunderstanding that? I have never seen a Remington knife with the pattern number on more than one blade.

Re: What do you think of this Remington Bullet?
I have a couple of later bullet reproductions. One is a R4356. The pattern number is on the clip blade. The spey has the Reminton stamp and the year on the off side (1993). I have a another (1988) that is stamped in the same fashion. I don't know about the earlier reproductions. I do think they were made by Queen?

Re: What do you think of this Remington Bullet?
Steve, I thought the blades had a look to them possibly stainless, but I talked myself out of that. I have seen many Remington two blade Bullets with only one pattern number. remington collector has always been the top authority it is hard to question him. It is fun
to have knives to study and maybe learn about.

I don't know about the bullet knives (I only have one and it only has one blade) but I've never seen a Remington with the pattern number stamped on anything other than the master. Actually, come to think of it, I've never seen any knife of any brand stamped with the pattern number on more than one blade.

Re: What do you think of this Remington Bullet?
I agree with msteele 100%, but i also think the spey could have been changed, like i said on a earlier posting.msteele6 wrote:-

Re: What do you think of this Remington Bullet?
The R1123 and R1128, are the only patterns I know of that have the pattern numbers stamped on both blades. Brewster says the 1128 is always stamped on both blades, and the 1123 can be found with the stamp on one blade. All of my R1123s are stamped on both blades as are the vast majority of the ones I have saw. I'm not saying every one is, but I think most are.

LIve and learn, I went back over several closed auctions for Bullet knives and found that some of them did indeed have the pattern number stamped on both blades. I guess I had never noticed since I rarely have the funds to bid on Bullet knives and therefore don't really read or follow the auctions.
Thanks for the information Remington Collector.

Here is my old bullet, you can compare the stampings. If you look close you can see the etch on spey blade.
