The many facets of the UNION CUTLERY CO.

The KA-BAR brand originated as a trademark of the Tidioute Cutlery Company. Tidioute was later taken over & renamed the Union Cutlery Company which continued making the brand until Union eventually adopted it as the company name in 1952. Cutco Corporation later acquired the company in 1996.

Whether the mark says UNION CUTLERY CO., OLCUT, KA-BAR, KEENWELL, Kabar..... If it was made in Olean NY or Hong Kong or even China( !). The handles may be leather, checkered horn, stag, wood( jigged to look like bone), pearl, etc.,

A group of KHY
BER folders and 3 mark 2`s. One is a 1990s reissue and the other 2 are ww2 originals. The sheath is ink--stamped J.P.JONES.

I don't believe Union Cut used checkered horn, there is no handle material code for it. The thistle top Union hunters are handled in checkered plastic. Great group of knives you show!
