Does this trapper look legit?
I picked up this trapper today at a sale. I can't find any reference to a tang stamp like this one. It's 4 1/8" closed length, and the handle is black delrin. Possibly a fake?

I am 99.999% positive that the CAMILLUS pocket knife in question is legitimate.
Your tang stamp looks more like a tang etch. But, it really doesn't make a difference.
NICE knife.

Don’t recall ever seeing a fake Camillus. I’ve seen a few that were modified with replacement covers or blades, but not any before that were re-stamped.

Re: Does this trapper look legit?
That is a legitimate Camillus knife.
Camillus had struggled in the last few years before they closed.
There was a lot of blade blanks left over from the production of Remington and other contract knives. It is common to find knives where the tang stamp had been ground off and the Camillus stamp etched where the tang stamp had been. 100% legitimate!!

Thanks for the replies. I was concerned because the tang looked ground.

I don't think that I own any with the tang etch, but I have seen tons of pictures. It is legit, made in the USA.
