Great post, love those old Remingtons. I hunt squirrels with a 552 most trips to the woods, but will sometimes go "old school" and take out a single shot model 33 or a Winchester 67.

I was carrying this browning lever action to slay squirrels. It also shots the CCI shorts pretty dang good .Killed truck loads with it over the last 44 years .All my guns are used for hunting purposes.I bought it new in 198O when I was 16 with $ from cleaning out hog houses and hauling hay all summer long . Took it out of the coast to coast hardware store to the woods same day I bought it .back then fur was selling high .that fall I knocked out enough coon with it treed by a English coon hound and border collie dog to buy my first car .kids these days have it way to easy .not many raised that are taught you have to work for things you want .they think the world owes them a living and everything gave to them for doing nothing productive ..

I've had over the years a couple of different Winchester 9422, Marlin 39A and 39M, but I much prefer the Browning BL22 I have now. Can't beat that short stroke action. I am looking forward to the new Winchester Ranger lever action 22 when they become available.

Nice looking Browning lever gun.

I managed to find this this old Winchester up the street from me. Was talking guns with a neighbor and happened to mention that slide action 22's were a favorite. He said he may have something I'd be interested in that he would part with. A couple of weeks go by......anyway its this 62A in nearly mint condition with the Lyman tang sight. We quickly arrived at a fair price. I recently took to the range to see how it would do and it will do nicely. Was sometimes hitting a 2 inch swinger at about 15 yds.

That is one nice find! My dad had a Winchester pump .I enjoyed borrowing it from time to time .some one stole it out of his pickup truck a few years back .the action on his was smooth and efficient .

Those are sweet gallery guns. Once upon a time they were used for parlor pastime and at carnival shooting galleries, with .22 Shorts of course.

Got my 86 back from the gunsmith. Started as a basket case 40-82. Sent barrel to JESS in Oregon. Re- boered, rifled and chambered in 45-70. Now a dandy shooter. Still working up the best load.

Sweet!!!

Thanks. Think it will be a nice one to use. Ready when the Buffalo return or the Sioux get frisky. Rifle was made in 1887.

Love the old Winchesters! 40-82 converted to 45-70, that's pretty cool. We've got an old '92 in 32-20 that is a sweet shooter. I imagine those bigger guns are pretty heavy and are not easy on old shoulders. ::hmm::
Glad you could turn it into a shooter!

Not hard in the shoulder unless you shoot it off the bench. That crescent butt plate is not friendly off bench. A few shots and went off hand. Plan to cast some 300 gr and 400gr today and see what she likes.
