I spotted your Iron Mountain knives browsing this thread and thought they look great and are distinctive or unusual. I'm curios during what time period they were made, who made them and anything else you know about them.

Following is a Boker reproduction of the WWII M3 fighting knife. This knife style was favored by Rangers, Airborne, and similar tough hombres. In my view, this knife was superior to the standard Fairbairn/Sykes Commando knife.

Re: Show off your fixed blades!
Question, Since Boker was one of the original contractors that produced the M-3 for the war effort, how do you know your knife is not a ww2 surplus knife?Quick Steel wrote: ↑Wed May 29, 2024 6:16 pm Following is a Boker reproduction of the WWII M3 fighting knife. That would be very cool Ken, if it were WWII surplus. But I obtained my knife from AJ Russell. When he offered these in his catalog I feel confident he would have mentioned their origin if they were not an original production. And thanks for mentioning the M-3 as "The Band of Brothers" knife.

Re: Show off your fixed blades!
I bought this as an experiment. For some reason I had never purchased a SOG tho they enjoyed a good reputation. So I ordered this Seal Pup Elite to try out. 4 3/4" blade; OAL 9 1/8". Seems to me to be a well made durable knife with especially good grips. Made in Taiwan it reminds me of some of Cold Steel fixed blades.

Re: Show off your fixed blades!
I did some reading last night about the M3. Initially, they were just issued to Airborne and Ranger types, later in the war the were issued more broadly.Quick Steel wrote: ↑Thu May 30, 2024 1:41 pm That would be very cool Ken, if it were WWII surplus. They were very a effective stabbing weapon but not such a great slashing tool, and they were very poor at heavy tasks like opening ammo crates.
The Army liked the blade design, so it was used in the M4 bayonets for the M-1 carbine, the M5 bayonet for the M-1 Garand rifle, the M6 bayonet for the M-14 rifle, and finally the m7 bayonet for the M-16 rifle.
In the photo are M3, M7, and M6.

Check this out, QS.
S.O.G. Tigershark Elite. 9" blade, 15" overall including the glass breaker, 7/32" thick spline at the hilt, removable handguard. I bought this a dozen or so years ago.
