[Miller Bro's]

Here are a couple. The Mumm has "Cordon Rouge" on the pile side, not sure of the maker. The tang stamp is G H Mumm, but I wouldn't think that a French Champagne company also made knives.

The Pittsburgh Brewing is a W H Morley with the 4 leaf clover stamp. According to Goins this was a Kastor import.

That is an awesome piece! I don't recall ever seeing a knife advertising that h/w store, I like the fact that it is a Robeson. "Think of Us" is a fairly simple and understated slogan.

I thought that I had commented on this knife yesterday, evidently I failed to press "submit". That is a very nice knife, and some interesting history of William E. Cooper to be found online. I really enjoy "discovering" forgotten bits of 19th and 20th century industrial history from a posting of an advertising knife. Thanks for showing, and hopefully more are forthcoming.

Here is a little background on the William E. Hooper co.

I am also posting a loosely related advertising knife which I had previously posted a few months ago in the " old and obscure" thread. Loos and Dilworth was formed initially to take advantage of the thriving textile manufacuring environment in Baltimore. William E. Hooper and co, as suppliers of canvas sails to the sailing fleet operating out of the Baltimore harbor, was a key part of that textile scene. The many machines operating within those factories, required oil, and Loos and Dilworth took advantage of those needs.

Great knife. I grew up in Baltimore and remember the last sail lofts and rope shops. They were all torn down for the Inner Harbor development. Funny, now there is talk of rebuilding the whole place again, 50 years later. That knife is somewhat similar to this Catt 21249 , but very maker had a similar bare-head J.O'.
