Can you help identify this pocke knife

My knowledge on pocket knives is quite limited. I learned long ago that a "man has got to know his limitations". Some of my father's stuff that I am going through. What brand, does it have any value? Thinking of just passing it onto one of my grandchildren, but I want to have a story to go with it. Thanks.

A good clear photo of the tang stamp would help greatly. I think it may have a Remington stamp but can't tell for sure.

I'm 99.999% positive that it is a CRUCIBLE.

I'm with Skip. I blew it up to 11000% and looked at it through a sprectrum cronometer used on oak island... and it looks like it could say Crucible.

Maybe the 28 stamp is an indication of the year within 1926-29 ?

But I think that's a good call.

Nice knife. Of course it has value; it is your father's. I hope you find
a lot more information on it here in the forum. Write down what you
found on a card. Give the card to who ever gets the knife.

Looks like a nice honest old knife. Using a pencil lead, scribble on the tang area where the maker’s stamp should be. Wipe off the excess graphite with a soft rag. That should remove enough of the patina to make the stamp clearer so it might be identifiable. Then take a clear, in-focus picture of the maker’s stamp. If there is enough there to read it, that will identify it.

The knife has more value to your family as an heirloom than it does monetary value. Due to the short master blade and overall wear any value is seriously diminished. If you can identify the brand, check ebay sold listings only, of similar knives (two-blade jack knife) by that brand, in similar condition. That’s your best source of current value.
