Ebay Item

Post by yerout »

Byran, Lobo, Pa Knives take a look a this ebay item # 6556037083 and tell me what you think, I thought the tested era 52042 long pull had slanted bolsters I might be wrong on that but I don't think so, The shield on this knife don't look right to me, the letters are not in line or straight but my eyes are getting old, would like your opinion on this one, I know you guys are very knowledgeable.

Thanks !

I'm not a Case expert....but, the knife LOOKS like the 52042 (OK, really a 62042) 3 " pen knife pictured on page 233 of Houston Price's guide (#13). No slanted bolsters shown. Not sure about the shield, but the drawing in Houston's book looks like the AS are slightly taller.

Hmmmmmm, it looks OK to me, but I don't like the fact that you can't read the stamp. Ask him what his return policy is.

Come on you Case guys, chime in here.

Hi Roger,

You have lumped me in with some good company :D Thanks! This knife is one of those that I would really, really like to have in my hands for a better look. Since that is not an option... I'll do my best with the available pictures. I don't see any red flags. I don't like the fact that the tang stamp is not visible. I don't know if it's not showing up because it is a light shallow stamp or what. On Case knives of this era, I like to see deaper stamps. The shield looks just a little fishy. I don't like how prominent the pins that hold it on look. Almost like maybe it was repinned. That is probably just the way the picture makes it look. If you wind up buying it, I'd check the inside of the handle and see if they stick out there at all. They should not, and if it were repinned, they might. All in all, I think it is o.k., but I would want a sales back guarantee pending further inspection uppon receipt.
