All About Vegetation, House Plants, Gardens, Trees ect.

If you can think of something to talk about that is not related to knives, discuss it here.

Awesome Spring pictures, guys. ::tu:: ::tu::

Unk's picture reminds me of a Bluegrass song-

Good job Mike, how old are you and what region is this that has copperheads? They are the most common poisonous snakes in our area. Previous years I tackled a larger project like yours and about 5 years later I wouldn't attempt it. I'm almost 72 now. Also , what type of tree is that you cleaned around?

Thanks! I am 62, and in Parker County, Texas. We have copperheads, rattlesnakes (Western Diamondbacks and Timber), and water moccasins around here, but copperheads are by far the most common. I move a lot slower than I used to, but can usually still get the job done. The trees are Live Oaks. They are highly prized by us Southern folks, and are my favorite trees. They are very majestic when they reach maturity. Where are you located?

I took the pic below a couple of years ago. The tree on the left is the one I just cleaned up, the one on right is in my backyard. You can see the corner of my shop on the left.

Rained here all day yesterday - we had almost 3 inches in the rain gauge. Today the sun was shining bright. I got out this afternoon after church and snapped a few pictures - looks like everything liked the rain! Click on pictures to enlarge for best color.

Nice pics guys.

I posted these before the outage, but they didn't make the backup date so I will re-post. We had a foggy morning recently, so I walked around the place and took some pics.

Does anyone know what the plant with the blue berries is? Looks like it may be a privet?

We loved them too until the deer ate them. You have to keep everything sprayed around here and we are within the city limits.

Some pictures are self explanatory, but several does have jumped our fence and birthed their fawns in the yard to protect from coyotes.

Beautiful pictures everyone! ::tu:: I'm enjoying them all ::nod:: :D

Today is Father's Day in Germany so I had the day off. I spent most of the day planting things.

Tomatoes
Red & Yellow Peppers
Rock Garden plants
Snapdragons (In German they call these "Löwenmäulchen" = Lion mouths.)
Forget me Not
Pansies (In German they call these "Stiefmütterchen" = Stepmothers.)
Ivy
Radishes
Greek Mountain Tea
Columbine
Chillies
Strawberries
Marigold
Black Eyed Susan
French Red Shallots
And last but not least some Chives. (In German they call this "Schnittlauch" = Cutting Leek.) I've grown very fond of this stuff. Tastes great in a lot of things. I like cutting some of it off & putting it on top of scrambled eggs, pizza, 🍕 sandwiches ect.. Even the flowers they producer taste good. ::nod:: ::tu:: And it comes back each year. Cool, pretty and delicious. ::super_happy::

As I removed the Chives from their pot I saw that it was sooooo full of roots so I cut it into 4 pieces and planted it in 4 different planted boxes.

Took a few pictures to share. And of course I had two wonderful supervisors. Jake (Brown) & Amy (Black) ::tu::

.
