Camillus 72 Clones

The Camillus Cutlery Company was one of the oldest knife manufacturers in the United States with roots dating back to 1876. The company manufactured Camillus branded knives and was a prolific contractor for other knife brands up until its last days in 2007 when the company filed for bankruptcy.

It is good when you can scratch a

Got an interesting one for my Birthday. My wife found this for me on the net. It's a Kutmaster. Same dimensions as a #72, but has steel liners, a clip main blade, a coping blade, and a pen blade. An odd thing is the coping blade has a half-stop, but the other two blades don't.The knife is in great shape, all of
the kicks look good, excellent snap, no wobble.
I can't find another like it anywhere on the net. Any of you #72 collectors ever seen one? Skip, Jerry?

Thanks for the response, Jerry. It looks similar to the Trust Worthy Hardware one on the previous page, but the blade configuration is different. Same shield though. Do you know who made the Trust Worthy knife?

Good onya wife. I have one. I think I have seen two different tang stamps on them. One a little bolder than yours. They don't come up a lot but they do on occasion. That one is certainly a great example. Congratulations! The Trust Worthy is a lot harder to find.

Well dang Skip, that's too easy! I'd much rather irritate the membership with dumb questions! Ha! I always forget about the "search" function. I'm surprised they didn't come up on my Google search. Thanks for the reminder though. I found two just like mine immediately when I searched the old posts as you suggested. Thanks again. At least now I know they exist! Thanks for the Birthday wishes!

Thanks Skip! I saw those after you directed me to the search. They are great. Bone Kutmaster's are hard to come by. You have a pretty rare one I'd say.
Thanks so much for the help. You and Jerry have an amazing wealth of knowledge on the 72's and clones! Love this forum!

Here is a repost of the list of wannabes or variations that Jerry (jerryd6818) so kindly provided.
Of course, there are still the variations of the variations and the variations that aren't on the list.
It would be interesting to see how many wannabes on the list are actually posted under this topic or thread.
Just looking at the list, I think that at least 95%, maybe more, have been posted. NOT JUST BY ME!

doglegg, mentioned back during the unveiling of the POS goodies, that any time you had a "look alike" 72 you didn't have a bad pile. Got to reading the Camillus 72 Clones thread and found it quite interesting.
The one Floyd was referring to is a Hammer Brand that is similar to the real 72. This one doesn't have a pattern number, in fact I don't remember seeing any Hammer Brand knives with pattern numbers. ::hmm::
This one needs a bit of cleaning and a touch up on the edges and it would be a fine carry for those not needing a bigger knife, a full sized stockman or trapper.
Hammer Brand wanna' be 72.
