Marking knife from scraps

I worked on a few projects today in the knife shop, but really only finished one. One project that I started was a blade delete on an electrician's knife. The screwdriver blade was broken at the tip, so it was a perfect candidate.
While doing some work, I needed to mark a piece, so I grabbed up that loose screwdriver blade. It worked perfectly. After about the 3rd time that I had used it to mark something, I thought to myself that it would be a lot easier to use if it had a handle.
Well, duh! I was surrounded by parts and pieces of knives!
So I quickly took some plastic handles and a broken spring and whipped up a handle for the blade. I also drilled another hole in the tang so that the blade is pinned through in two places.
It ain't sexy, but it sure is handy!

Nice job on that marking knife, Reverand. If they're pretty that's a plus but they need to be effective and handy.

Oh that poor carpenter pencil! If you put a chisel edge, on both sides, along the wide of the lead, to a sharp point, it will give you the sweetest fine line and long lasting fine line that you could imagine.

I agree about the pencil. It was sharp at one time, I promise!

lol. First I noticed how great a marking knife that is! Broken hacksaw blades work great too. Then I noticed the stiddy and had to repent for violating the 10th commandment.

And yep those pencils sharpened with a chisel, angled on one side and flat on the other mark next to your straight edge really nice.
