Re: My BIGHEAD Mods
I certainly do not mean to hijack QTcut5's thread, but I also have a number of BIGHEAD mods that I am extremely happy with. Here are just four of them. Shown are a Case Shark Tooth, a Case Texas Lockhorn, a Case Mid Folding Hunter, and a Case Large Saddlehorn. All of them have new Mammoth Ivory covers that almost look like they came from the same tusk. Barry does some outstanding work.

Well here are a couple more. A Case Kickstart Mid Folding Hunter that originally had 6.5 Bonestag. Looks better with the real thing. And a Case Slick Black 31 SAB that now sports some gnarly Stag. More BH Custom Knifeworks greatness.

If I'm not mistaken, this Case XXChanger might have been one of Barry's first forays into Mammoth Tooth. Also shown is a Case Large Coke Bottle that Barry covered with Cholla Cactus.

Re: My BIGHEAD Mods
And while there are others, here is a Birdseye Delrin 3392 that Barry Mammothed up. And, a group shot of some other B H Custom Knifeworks mods. It includes a Case 6299 1/2 Railsplitter Jack in MI, a Case Kickstart TrapperLock in MI, and the very first knife Barry did for me: a Case Clasp that had outgassing celluloid that he replaced with some gorgeous Ebony wood. And as it is Barry's favorite pattern, I better not forget the one legged Sowbelly that is now wearing some nice Stag.

Gary that Shark was the very first tooth I did and the clasp was the very first knife I did for someone other than me. I didnt realize I had done so many for you.

Wow, those are ALL gorgeous.
Way to go hardman, sweet collection.
Great work as usual, Barry. You're officially a legend
. (Now everyone's going to be asking you to customize knives for them and I'm afraid you won't have any more time to do my little projects
)

More excellent work!
That Cholla Cactus seems to be a recently popular scale material, still undecided about it.
Pocket, fixed, machete, axe, it's all good!

The Cholla was given to me so I had to try it. That being said I put it on this fixed blade and loved it.1967redrider wrote: ↑Fri Jan 12, 2024 2:09 pm More excellent work! That Cholla Cactus seems to be a recently popular scale material, still undecided about it.

I think it's kind of like ostrich skin boots- you either like 'em or you hate 'em.

And it just keeps getting better and better.

Re: My BIGHEAD Mods
I seem to be subscribed to the BIGHEAD Mod of the Month Club
This month's BIGHEAD mod started out as a rather plain jane denim micarta Rough Ryder Wharncliffe Swayback and a chunk of Amber Stag that's been begging to be cut up and made into a knife handle ever since a friend gave it to me a year or so ago.
I asked Barry to use the specific gnarly areas of the antler that I liked best which is not the easiest thing to do and definitely not a job for amateurs. I also asked him to ditch the lanyard hole.
BEFORE:
Y'all can judge for yourselves, but IMHO Barry knocked this mod out of the park, clear over the upper deck of the triple deck stadium, over the parking lot and into the stratosphere. It was last spotted heading over the moon, which is exactly where I am when I'm coon-fingering this sweet sweet beauty like a magic lamp with a genie inside (although the only thing I would wish for is to just keep on coon-fingering this fine BIGHEAD mod 'cause I can't seem to put it down!!!)
Really love the fat stag...feels so dang good in the hand especially where the thumb rests on a nice smooth, wide and perfectly curved ramp
AFTER: (clearly Barry ain't no amateur!
