FAKE Miller Bro`s Knife

Post by Miller Bro's »

Take a look at this one! ::doh::

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... ink:top:en

What a coincidence I just posted a picture of my Burr Oak Miller Bro`s knife over in knife lore.

Charlie and Rig brought to my attention that one is listed on e-bay, by none other than master faker 1959brett

Here is what`s wrong with his knife.
1.The Burr Oak knife was only made in the dogleg pattern.
2.The jigging in the bone is not from Miller Bro`s, they had their own distinctive pattern.
3.The pin on the bolster is sticking up, sure sign of a re-pin job, and a poor one at that.
4.The shield I believe to be original, but is worn down from buffing after being pinned on to this knife frame. Also the shield pin is not flush on an original, it is peened and sticks up.
5. The blades have a tang stamp from an earlier era, not the era this knife was supposedly made.

This knife he is selling is a cobbled together piece of junk! :x  ::disgust::

I was fixin to ask you if you looked at this jewel! I didnt think it was right either but wanted to run her by you first. I totally agree with Everything. I didnt notice the jigging, but you right. The old Miller Bros. jigging is as distinctive like alot of the Older Winchesters i have. It starts in the middle and runs upward at a angle running towards the outside. Not straight up and down like most knives.

What about this one?
http://cgi.ebay.com/Miller-Brothers-Sai ... 911.c0.m14

This one of his caught my eye
http://cgi.ebay.com/Early-Ulster-Knife- ... 911.c0.m14 If you look at the pic of the knife open with only the main blade. The knife is at a 45° angle with the tip up and left, the reflection on the blade looks to show two different reflections, and the forward tip of the nail nick is rounded unlike the rear where it was nicely milled.

None of the other pictures show that clearly ( there is a hint of it on one of the blade's backside pics) and it could be a fluke. However, with this guys reputation, it sure makes me wonder.

The whittler is beautiful, but i wouldnt be surprised if the little spay blade was welded too the tang its on recently! The grind isnt right, they just dont match up. And its funny that the long pull on the main runs clear into the stamp. Like he welded it together too and when he touched the long pull up, he went too far. But never the less, right or wrong. the guy refurbishes knives and were going to pick his knives apart.

Willie,

The rope knife has had a blade changed, the blade was worn, reshaped and refinished. The bail is a replacement. The jigged bone handles do look right. Too bad, would have been a nice knife if not altered ::td::

The Ulster has had a blade welded, see picture 7, you can see the different color of the steel just above the tang mark, also the original tang has some pitting, the blade that has been welded above this does not. Also, I seriously doubt the handles are original, stag was very rarely used by Ulster.

...I know you're a smart guy and all, but I suggest you do your homework before you accuse someone of faking a knife, son. This knife is 100% original. I know because I found it, cleaned it and sold it along with thousands of excellent vintage knives over the last 20 years. You and Charlie and any of your other expert friends that think I'm a "faker" want to talk sometime call me... 402-239-7490. That way you don't have to talk behind my back.

First of all I`m not your SON.

What you really mean is you found it, faked it, polished it to hide the fact, and then sold it on fleabay along with thousands of other junk knives over the last 20 years.

I really don`t think a public forum with free access to the whole world, is talking behind your back. I personally wouldn`t waste my time and a dime talking to you on the phone, it would do no good. Your not going to stop doing what your doing just because I talked to you on the phone?

Nothing you can say here is going to be any different than what we already know is true.

Zipper,

Rather than five people making phone calls, why don't you just explain how Miller Bro's observations are wrong right here since you've got all of our attention? That shield, in the way it's positioned on the surface like that, could have been added to any handle (even a non-Miller Bros. handle according to that jigging), and the knife reassembled with M-B blades that sort of fit. It's the same as seeing Schrade's peachseed jigged handles on a knife with Case blades, it just doesn't fit.

Why isn't it a dogleg pattern? Did you not realize this was the only pattern they made this knife in? It seems that Miller Bro's has done his homework, and you're not willing to prove him wrong with anything other than your usual "this is how I found it" answer. I'd love to see you once actually sell a knife that wasn't cleaned at all, at least then we'd know it's original.

The WHOLE internet knife world is talking behind your back. Have been for a few years now
From Cutlery News Journal to iKnifecollector. You are the Bernie Madoff of the knife world. I'm thinking you should use your fame and write a book about how you do your refurbishing..maybe Paladin Press would sell it

Is this the one and only infamous "you bend 'em and I'll mend 'em" Ebay Bret? If it is, scroll down the page a little and take a look at a thread on this forum titled "CAUGHT RED HANDED?". Is that your Ebay user name as the buyer of that knife purchased for around $30 some dollars with a broken secondary blade, and is that also your name as the seller of that exact same knife that sold for around $100 after it had that secondary blade put in it and re-bladed, which you never mentioned in the knife's Ebay auction description? If it is you, YOU ARE A DISGRACE TO THE KNIFE COLLECTING HOBBY IN GENERAL AND A CON-ARTIST THAT MIS-LEADS GOOD HONEST EBAY KNIFE COLLECTING BUYERS JUST TO MAKE A CROOKED BUCK, "BOY"! I was going to use the words con-man, but in my opinion you don't even deserve the title to even be called a man. Do you know, or even care how many up and coming young knife collectors that were just beginning to collect knives that have been burnt and have turned away from the knife collecting hobby just because of dis-honest people like you selling your re-bladed, reworked cobbled up junk? I doubt that you do, and I doubt you even care because you have to have at least 1 gut in you to care about anything and you fall short of having even 1. Is there any part of this up to this point that you can't comprehend that you need explained to you "BOY" ? I feel like Miller Brothers does about you. You aint worth a phone call even if I did have free long distance calling. If you've been doing this for 20 years, your never going to change. Now before you start huntin and a peckin those letters on your key board to type in and tell me how tough and bad you are on these computers, don't waste your time or mine, because #1- I'm not SKEERED of you or of anyone that even resembles you. I've been shot at, I've been stabbed, and I've pushed people like you out of the way to get to a good fight, so don't think for a split second that you can intimidate me in anyway shape or form BOY #2- 99.9% of mis-leading, cheating crooks are yellow belly chicken $h!ts with no back bone to begin with. Did you understand all that BOY or do I need to draw you a picture? People like you disgust me. Now, you can take what I've wrote here anyway you want to take it, I really could care less how you take it. I aint talking behind your back, I'm telling you straight up BOY .
Be advised, this is my own opinion, and my opinion only written here and is no way endorsed, connected, or implied by AAPK's owner/owners or moderators, or users.

Aimus he'll read it, but I doubt he'll ever post again after being exposed with your feedback research of him. When you kick a dog hard enough, it just tucks its tail & runs.

If only everyone that purchased knives on ebay would do some looking back @ the items these guys were moving. It shows so much of the truth.

Every picture tells a story, don't it
