My brothers EDC

We'll, I am feeling a bit nostalgic today remembering my brother Joe. He passed away back in 1985. I thought i would share a picture of what was his EDC. My mother gave it to me the day after my brother died and it continues to be the MOST prized piece in my collection. A Western boot knife that he bought brand new for $19.99 (I was with him when he bought it). I wouldn't sell it for anything in the world. Thanks for looking! P.S. He did actually carry it in his Red Wings!!

I wish I had a knife that meant that much to me.

Perhaps I am the only one in my family that collects knives is why.
I do not know of any uncles or grand fathers the had a love for knives.
My sons will have a good time when I die. Trying to pick out their favorite.
In fact my son John is coming over to day cuz it's his B-Day. I will ask him to show me his favorite knife in my collection. I think even with that extra hour (we have to day) that 25 hours will not be enough time...

You see it is not what you pay for a knife that gives it a VALUE.

Replying to a 17 year old thread, I know.

I have my brother’s Buck 112, he passed in 1984. I sent it to Buck for a freshen up about 10 years ago, it came back sharp and shiny, but with all the character he put into it (dents, deep scratches, etc).
it is also the Crown Jewel in my 700+ knife collection.

Seeing your post prompted me to post this. Rather than hanging on to my guns and knives, I would rather share them with my sons while I can still see their joy of receiving them. I let them pick their faves at bdays and Christmas. Always interesting to see what they choose.
