Where Are All The Remington Knife Collectors?

The Remington Corporation and the knives that they built have influenced the U.S. cutlery industry more than nearly any other manufacturer. From the time America was settled, to the end of WWI, American knife companies struggled to compete with Britain and German imports, but events that occurred during and after the First World War led to a great change in this phenomenon. Unprecedented opportunities arose, and Remington stepped up to seize the moment. In the process, they created some of today's most prized collectables. In an ironic twist, the next World War played the greatest role in ending the company’s domination of the industry.

Digging through pictures after my dad passed and found a couple.
First is R4283.
R-H-12 I know it is for fixed blades but saw the other ones posted dad only had the fixed blade roll. And the two Remingtons that were in it.

I agree! 💯 😎👍

Shouldn't that 5 blade have a punch?

I have trouble remembering how that old truism used to go but seems like it was All punch blades have an acorn shield but all acorn shields do not have a punch. Maybe one of the more avid Remington guys will come along to confirm that. :D
And this has been a great thread, by the way.

You have that backwards, Ray. Remington Scouts for example. 😉

I am not a bit surprised that I got it backwards. Is it all acorn shields have a punch blade but all punch blades do not have an acorn shield?

The R100B Dollar Knife is another well-known example of a Remington knife with a punch, but without an Acorn shield.

The R4283 5 blade sowbelly is very rare to begin with, and I believe it was made with a punch which is even rarer. Not sure what the proper descriptor is for the "typical" shield on a R4283... I attached an example.

The bone and the shield on the original post R4283 would give me some mild heartburn. The blades look correct.

It's supposed to be a woman's torso from what I've been told. I can't recall the proper name though.

Also, many of the BSA scouts have punches with round BSA shields

I think that's called an hourglass shield.

Wife and I went junking this weekend at stopped at an antique store - found an old Remington and about popped on it but something seemed a little outta place, so I said I'd think about it since we were staying the night in that town. Wife told me to go buy it the next day so we went back in and I had them get it out of the case, then it hit me, two blades were carbon, and one was a dirty stainless, but I could tell it was not of the same material and the nail nick was just barely visible - so back in the case it went. I suspect a blade had been broked and been replaced. Had it not been for this site I would have probably never picked it up and would have bought it.
