Canal Street Cutlery Half Moon Trappers

Post by BigDonDon »

I need help in adding to my list of Canal Street Half Moon Trappers. Here is what I have so far. Any one who knows of others please let me know.

1151274 Ebony
1196244 Exterior Elk Horn
1199246 Red Stag
1156254 Buffalo Horn
115528 Caramel Aberdeen
115528 Amber Carved Stag (Looks like Carmel Aberdeen) and has the same number.
1199310 White Buffalo Mica Pearl
1196249 Sambar Stag
1195340 Olde Red Bone Popcorn
1192341 Olive Wood
1195258 Sandstone Brown Bone
1195259 Mint Green
I know of one I'm missing: 1196276 Oiled Horn

I've acquired these all new within the past year. Some are very small editions. I've asked CSC for a complete list of Half Moon Trappers. They say they will see if they can find a list but so far nothing. Any one who can add to this list please send it to [email protected].

Thanks,

Don Franklin

Is this the same as yours ?

CS Trapper 1/2 Moon EBONY 4 1/4" 14-4 Cr-Moly Steel

Am I right when I say the 1/2 moons only come with one blade ?

I am thinking that they may have one with green handles.

Yes, Sgt Schultz, I do have that one. I bought 4 of them from Jim Davidson. I don't have a green handled one. You are right, Half Moon Pie Trappers have only one blade. The Moon Pie Trappers have two. I've heard that the term "moon" comes from the shape of one bolster.

When I posted my list of CSC Half Moon Trappers I forgot this one. It's a 115528 Carmel Aberdeen which I sent to Kaleb Reynolds (Muksrat Man). He re handled it with Pre Ban Elephant Ivory. So now I have the only one in the world with that handle material.

Here is the back side of my knife. I seem to have a bit of a problem labeling my files. Sorry about the poor quality.

Thanks, Boggs!

I got a hold of Smokey Mountain and bought the Sandstone Brown Bone 1195258 and Mint Green Bone 1195259 for $69.95 each. I missed out on 1196276 Oiled Horn which they said was sold out. Maybe I can find it later. At least I have it on my list.

Thanks again.

Hello BigDonDon;

What you are doing makes a real sweet collection... ::tu::

Now that your missing one your back on the hunt. If I had one you would surely get a PM from me. Are you going to show them by the year they where made too?

I did this with NEW USA Quarters. Every year starting with the first year I got married. Then showed them in a wall frame the 25 years. I am thinking that 25 years was silver year and not just what I got to keep out of the money I made each year. (that was one way I could remember my ANNIVERSARY date.)

Just an idea for you hunters out there that like looking at history and only costs $6.25.

Collecting all of the Canal Street Cutlery Half Moon Trappers is much more manageable than some other collections. I started out to collect knives issued by Great Eastern and Northwoods. I finally realized that they were making so many different handle styles and materials that I would NEVER keep up even if I didn't run out of money. The problem with Nothwoods is that owner Dave Shirley doesn't have records of what and how many he has made so there is no way to know when or if you get them all. Don Franklin

I'm in love with the half moon trapper. It is my favorite pocket knife. Hands down.

Nice collection.

Thanks, Derrick!

Coming from you that's high praise. As you know many of my Elephant Ivory Northwoods came from you.
